Re: Uttar Pradesh: The Land of Expressways

Just completed a drive on Purvanchal expressway, the main expressway is complete but there are no amenities on the expressway as of now. The construction of Restrooms and Petrol pumps is taking place at a rapid pace so I assume they should be complete in a couple of months. It look me around 3 hours and 30 min to complete the route.
It took me around 10 hours to cross Yamuna, Agra Lucknow and Purvanchal expressway.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: The Land of Expressways

Progress in UP infrastructure has been apparent since 2014-15. Every time I travelled in the western UP, the road quality was better than the last time. Always something new was happening, some new section, new flyover, road repairs etc.

It was for all types of roads, state highways, interior village roads, national highways; even roads in towns like Ghaziabad, Meerut.

I remember the time when I absolutely dreaded taking my cars in UP because roads were substantially poor in UP and travel speeds were like half of what they were in Haryana.

But now, UP arguably has better roads and more highways hence faster transit compared to both NH1 and NH8. It's not to say Haryana doesn't have good roads anymore. Take any of the state/national highways in the Jatland (read except south Haryana bordering Rajasthan) and you would be surprised with consistent good quality of roads despite annoying speed breakers.

But UP has come from behind in infra at breakneck speed in the last decade or something. Maybe people are able to notice this more now as big expressways hit the headlines more.

I rate UP as SBI of July 2020 when despite substantial improvement in asset quality, no one wanted to buy it. Rest as we know, is history. UP is no longer a beemaru state and it'll take just a generation for it to become the new growth engine of the Indian state.

Yes, it is the best stretch of expressway amongst Delhi-Agra, Agra-Lucknow, Lucknow-Buxar. It will cost you around Rs650. The entire stretch is 290kms.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: The Land of Expressways

Next week, Uttar Pradesh will get its fifth expressway— this one to connect the remote region of Bundelkhand— with its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed on July 12.

This 296-km-long expressway is unique as it has been completed ahead of deadline within 28 months of its inauguration by the PM on February 29, 2020, when a target of 36 months was fixed. However, despite the Covid waves, the project has been completed well ahead of time.

This is a great connecting link from Agra-Lukhnow Expressway to the Eastern states via Chitrakoot. Can't wait to read folks posting updates about their experiences of this section.

I dont see much connecting to Central India. Examples:

1. Connecting Nagpur (or Pune-Nagpur) with the new Bombay-Delhi expressway.
2. Chitrakoot to Further south ? (Nagpur for example)

You are correct. These are build especially for the state of UP, for uplifting the socio- economic development and boost tourism. The advantage is that all expressways are interlinked and have connectors to state highways.

Other reasons for lesser connections: Political.
Let's not get into that discussion on an automobile forum.

On the other hand something is better than nothing and here the 'something' is a very big thing for a state in India.

Does any info available or any website tracks the economic improvements like industrial/manufacturing development or agricultural allied industries or even mining in the regions connected by the express ways and took advantage of this modern infrastructure? I know it will take decades to reap the benefits but is there something already started there?

UPEIDA is a nodal agency to build Industrial infrastructure along the expressways in UP. Currently the same is conducting Industrial surveys of land along the Ganga & Purvanchal Expressways.

UP Defence corridor is being built along Bundelkhand Expressway which will serve both existing and Greenfield projects.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: The Land of Expressways

Is Bundelkhand Expressway full functional or still some work left?

This coming weekend would be traveling to Delhi from Hyderabad and stopping at Jhansi for the night. Next day from Jhansi was thinking of taking NH27 towards Bundelkhand expressway and keep going towards Agra and then Delhi. I know its some 100kms extra but it shows same time taken as Jhansi Gwalior Agra Delhi. Plus you avoid Gwalior Agra traffic in this case.

Worth it? Or should I stick to regular route?
