Hope the cops make more examples of such people and the media highlights it.
Her father said she was not driving the car, She asked if overtaking ACPs car is a crime, Then Police also say she did not abuse, just paid the fine and left. Another Officer said she was chased down.

Hilarious how so many versions !

Lets hope so.

That girl even slapped a person who was video-graphing the incident. Absolute uncouth behavior.

Re: Are VIPs exempt from following traffic rules on Indian roads?

The only VIP car that should be given right of way, is an Ambulance.

I pay income tax, road tax, toll tax and what not. I have an equal right to use the road as these bullies (politicians and their lackeys). If they come behind me flashing lights and honking, i don't go out of my way to let them overtake nor do i make life difficult for them. If they can see a clear path to overtake, by all means, go ahead and overtake, but i never yield to such tactics by going to the side of the road or slowing down for such morons.

The PM's and CM's convoys are a different matter as the traffic is usually cleared for them in advance and you're made to stop wherever you are by traffic cops so they can pass.

I also believe that everyone should pay the toll tax and only Ambulance's should be exempt.
I have seen people in luxury cars arguing over a toll of 90rs at Meerut toll plaza an inordinate number of times.

A couple of weeks ago, I was waiting for my car at the Shangri La. An Innova with private plates and dodgy looking illegal red strobe lights comes in. The person front had no seat belt on. A security flunky got out and opened the door for him. He sat and completed his messages before lumbering out.

Like father like daughter, I guess.

Police vehicles should be given right of way as they too have urgency at times. Yesterday itself a Military Police vehicle cut me off briskly. He was driving in a very hurried manner. I always regard Military people as disciplined so I assumed he is in a hurry which might be the case.

Also, by experience i will say let all these guys pass easily. No point creating hassle for yourself cos if they will collide with your car, only you will be blamed and pay the price.

Absolutely incorrect and false! The PM and his convey always move on a closed route with 2 routes closed as contigency route. Early hours or late hours SPG protocol is standard. Please get your facts correct!

Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that. Discussing the Blue Book on a public forum is not something I want to be accused of by any authority.

Exactly. I used to live in Delhi in the 90s and still remember once when our school bus was not allowed to stop and forced into a bylane for making way for the PM's convoy. Yes, the other union minister and MPs/MLAs used to move around inconspicuously.

Yes sir, absolutely correct my workplace is bang opposite Pm house since 2009, any movement they close the route without fail, during manmohan singh's time it was just the route to be used now with Pm Modi they close 2 more routes as contigency backup.

Re: Are VIPs exempt from following traffic rules on Indian roads?

Come one people! let's give these guys some respect and credit, for all the hard work they do, They will have important calls to attend to and they are busy solving our problems, not like normal people like me and you! Their jobs demand them to travel and work fast!

The other day It was raining heavily in our beloved city, I was on my bike fully wet, every part of me was soaking wet, Suddenly the traffic comes to a standstill, I see an escort car and some VVIP car zipping behind on the opposite side of the road with lights and horns blazing! I Was just thinking to myself -
The person traveling must be very very dedicated and hardworking! Even at 8:00 PM they must be in some emergency to solve some critical problems of ours. Stupid Lazy me was going home at 8:00 PM After working for 12 hours.

Re: Are VIPs exempt from following traffic rules on Indian roads?

Today again on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. This time a Bombay High court vehicle with a police escort relay (new one took over in between on the expressway) both exceeding the speed limit and driving rashly (cutting vehicles off, zig zagging across lanes).
If policemen and judges don’t follow the law themselves, what right do they have to enforce it?
And why is a HC judge entitled to a police escort anyway? What a waste of public resources for VIP duty, when these police could instead be enforcing the law.

Off Topic: When I get my Scorpio-N (or used Fortuner/Crysta), I will put the flag of our country on the dash and have red boards at the front and the back saying "SAP Business Analyst" in bold and gleaming brass

Meh! I see Goa police fining everyone left-right-center for everything and then I see them driving their Black Thars on Mumbai Goa Highway as if they are chasing down someone driving a Ferrari.

You can contest your challan at the time of making payment for same in Lok Adalat. You need to put your case for settlement and let them know why you want to pay less. Just make sure your argument gets through and if it's your lucky day your challan might get waived off completely. However recently in Punjab they have stopped canceling the Challans for non availability of documents. It can be only for month of March-April. As for speed camera Challan, you need proof and report from police station that camera captured wrong speed.

This person claiming to be son of a District Court Judge threatens the traffic police for the jammer affixed to his car for wrong parking in Hazratganj, Lucknow.
