Age 18 - Driving school - very old Ambassador - Calcutta
At 13. Maruti 800. Learnt fundaes by driver but mostly self taught.
When: 15
Where: Bombay (Sion)
Who: Dad
What: Premier Padmini, Also used to practised in a friends Maruti 800.
Age: 15
Tutor: my cousin who was 16
Car: modified gypsy (only external mods no engine mods kind off bling bling)
location: my village 250 kms frm hyderabad (private road)
age : 12 years (class 6th)
tutor : my father
car : M800
Location : open ground near my house
- Age = 15 Class 9th
- Tutor = Driver
- Car = OMNI, Ambi
- Location in India = North Delhi
- Age - 13 , though learnt the steering sitting on dads lap much before that .
- Tutor - Dad the great !!
- Car - Willys , left hand drive .
- Location - Kotgarh . 10 ft wide roads !!
Sam has been to the roads that I learnt driving on . And the jeep's steering used to have so much of play .. half a turn and the wheels wudn't respond, brakes had to be pumped twice , half clutch on an incline of about 45 degrees - ( half an inch roll back and I wud get a smack on my head ), slushy roads , and God only knows what all !! Hated dad for it at that point , though later I realised how grateful I was that he taught me all the nitty gritties !!!
Thank GOD I didn't learn on the new age cars ... maybe wudn't have been that much of an all round driver !!

Well .. we have a small driveway .. so at night all 3-4 cars go in and they have to get out in the morning ..
when i was 15 .. I told my mom/dad that i already knew enough driving to back it out and then park it in again .. from there i graduated to small spins around the colony then around the block .. obviously without telling them ... by the time they got to know i already knew how to drive .. clap:
he he .. i am 26 and still do that sometimes .. take my dad's ride for those late night coffee's at costa .. :I Rule:

how - i knew the theory; could balance a cycle, knew what the gears were (observant, am I ?)
secret - didn't let anyone know that this was the first time I sat on a bike.
similarly, the car:
first car - fiat
tutor - none
how - sat on the car with my cousin from bombay and behaved as if i knew how to drive; he came to know it was my first after i missed the culvert wall by a whisker. Two days later i drove a jeep. next month the truck (Tata 1210 SE).

Gee...i got a smack on my head for scraping the baleno over a speedbreaker at 2kmph.
The first time I held a wheel of a running vehicle was ummm.. I don't remember, I guess 2nd standard. It was my dad's official vehicle, a Green M&M Jeep. Was sitting on the drivers lap & he knew how much I love vehicles. I never could hold the thing in a straight line & the driver corrected me more than twice by whacking on my head.
Learnt to ride bikes when in my 4th Standard.
Trainer: Our Water pump operator. (Dad was strictly against me riding/driving at a young age (before 18), dad's a man of principles)
First Bike: Vespa NV.
Never really learnt to drive, had gone on a drive wid friends, acted as though I knew how to drive & drove back on NH 17. The arterial road in Goa (have grown up in Goa) & only after reaching home did I tell my friends that it was the first time I was driving. This was in my 10/11th Standard. Never looked back after that.
First Car: Blue M800.
First I learnt driving when I was 23 in a driving school at Sirumugai. Then lost the driving license and forgot driving.Again relearnt it when I was 35 through another driving school at Hyde.Again relearnt it after getting a car of my own at 37, at Bangalore.Hopefully I won't forget again!
