| An attempted mugging @ chamundi Hill Mysore : Punto takes hits from a Dagger . 9th May 2010 , Me and my girlfriend drive out to the hill wanting to enjoy a ice evening , A fortnight of hectic schedule had made me numb to the core, just wanted some fresh air and a niece evening with my gal. had spent the last 48 hours, working and driving between Bangalore & Chennai on the Linea , top of it had spent the whole afternoon cleaning up my Punto & giving her a wash . The cold breeze was such a relief after a hard day , and somehow set me in a nice mood . On our way we find that there are too many vehicles passing by and decided to head back to our favourite coffee joint instead . So we take a shortcut and on the way just stopped for a minute to take in the scenery & the city lights , as it was already 7 Pm . The road has no lights but there is very light traffic with a vehicles plying on it every 3 ~ 5 minutes . We have barely stopped the car and are talking when i see a motorbike come from the opposite direction , midway through they switch off the lights . I had turned off the ignition of the car , and had rolled my windows half down to let some fresh air come in . There was something in the way they drove in and stopped that alerted my senses and i knew something was amiss . But , i just thought that they might be “ Sri Rama Sene “ or “ Kannada Rakshana Vedike “, “ MNS “ or such idiotic saffron tinged group or moral police representatives out to harass young couple . And was prepared to face them and give them back some sh*t. They came and put their hands through the windscreen and tried to grab my car keys . Alas , that idot did not know that unlike other cars , punto has a different position for the keyhole .! and he could not grab the key  .I deflected his hand and pushed it away so that he is not successful in his attempt . The next thing he does is pull out a 8inch Dagger and puts it up to my throat . |

|  Wind_rider, that was indeed a brave move to pull over at that time, without street lights and with very low traffic. In such scenarios I wouldnt even slow down below a certain limit. Please complete the story.. I could take some tips. Have planned a trip to chamundi hill this weekend with my fianci.  |

So i am telling myself , dont get emotional , think logically ..!!!! I mean there is a split second when i get something like a shiver , i am scared , i am afraid , i have my girl with me . but the next moment i catch hold of his arm and twist it hard , i wanted the knife to fall out of his hand. Add to this that it was pitch dark outside , i really did not know what Assailant # 2 was upto . the moment my glass comes up he is yelling to his friend " Maga Gun Thegiyo " [ Dude , pull out the gun ] . and he says to us threateningly " Aaai , we have a gun " . I know this was a bluff , i mean i know the probability of some punk like him having a gun , let alone his ability to procure one . I knew that it would most probably be an Air-gun or something like that , but now i was safe . At this point knowing that they have not been successfully , they are banging on the wind shield with the dagger, and i am cranking up my car to move front or back . I cant reverse as it is pitch dark outside and the guys are on my side of the car blocking the view , and i have parked the car to the side of the road [ to allow other people to move easily on the road ] Sh*T the road is too narrow to reverse , i see a opening 100 meters ahead where i can turn . But he had to do it , i mean bang on the front wind shield & driven window glass with the dagger , luckily my Punto holds it . When i hear my punto being attacked i become mad ...! I slot the gear lurching the car forward and drive to the clearing , then turn it hard and turn around . I mean , Nobody hurts my baby , My punto....! I had blood on my Mind , absolute rage .!!!!!  By now i realize that they are on a RX 135, its too far to read the number plates , and i chase them . Unluckily their bike starts in a kick and they already have a head start of 10 seconds .! I chase them to the main road which has a lot of traffic , i dont know which way they turned , toward the hill or towards the city. i stop a couple on the bike coming from city and ask them , if they saw 2 guys zooming on a RX 135 , they say nay .! So i turn my car towards the hill , **** 5 More seconds wasted .! Wish my girlfriends was looking out for it .! | |

I reach the khoday guest house intersection and there are 2 routes , one Is the main road which goes all the way upto the temple and the other goes to interior places , this interior road is usually used by forest dept guys to patrol . I mean i cant take the interior road right ? its very narrow and if the block the road and trap me i am done , the second time they will do a lot of harm . S, F, i curse myself , cant tell my GF to get out and wait there , no watchman or anybody to ask if 2 guys came by that road . So i take the main road and go almost to the top , too many people , too many bikes . One fits the profile , and i tail them for quite some time driving madly , nope cant get a positive id on them , ask my GF she says no she cant ID them . 8 minutes ,from the start , i slowly calm down a bit . The adrenalin is strong i am feeling it inside me , no point trying to roam around the hill , it is pretty big , too many roads , too many people . I decided to head back home which is only 3 kms away , and i turn to my GF & ask her is she is all right , she nods yes . I ask her is she needs water , she says she is fine . i pull out the cell phone call 100 and narrate everything to the cops , tell them to send some patrol jeeps to that area . Give a description of the culprits , height , build , vehicle , weapon used etc , couldn’t see their faces or the clothes they wore properly so couldn’t help them . Remember i had switched off the ignition right . We go home , all my cousins are there and i chat with the kids promising them a treat later and we drive off to our coffee joint . 2 smokes and a cuppachino and i am slowly feeling better , well what do you know the Police inspector calls me and asks me to come to teh station . Yes when you call 100 they get to know the number and the location .! My GF was shaken up ,but she was okay [ Brave lil thing ] so gave her a hug and dropped her home .
