Snake holding beggars

Hello,

Today i had a very bad experience in morning, while waiting for the signal to turn green at the Indirapuram-Noida crossing.

There were some beggers with snakes in their arms. One of them approached me.

By looks and behaviour,my face looks a very sterotype "Sharif" (sincere, educated) IT person. He knew it. Purposefully kept on asking for money and not going away because he knew i am a "Sharif" kind of guy who will give in. I refused and he then said things like:

"Bhagwaan Shambhu ka shaap tujhe lagega"
Lord Shambhu will curse you
"Jyada garmi chadd rahi hai ?"
Feeling hot under the collar?

I kept on resisting till a point i thought of just coming out of the car and hitting him with the Gear Lock. But i resisted. I knew they are 5-6 in the vicinity and i will be in danger if i loose my cool.

This incident has left a very bad tase with me. I am thinking of procuring a Fire arm to deal with these miscreants (who are actually ex-criminals, rapists). Anyone got something to share on how to deal with these criminals at traffic signals?

Re: Snake holding beggers

Start using the A/c. Atleast at signals. And as always, engage central locking.

+1.

The best possible option without getting into any unwanted hassles.

Don't bother to respond. All this god will curse you and stuff is bull crap. I just wonder to what extent they would harass a two-wheeler with those reptiles.

Re: Snake holding beggers

I had such an experience while I was walking down a footpath in Gurgaon. A begger approached me with a snake in his hand. When he realized that I am not going to give him anything, he tried to scare me with the snake. I didn't show any reaction at all, he left. Had he been showing that kind of circus here in my place, he would have gotten beaten up by the public; of course the snake would get killed first.

Re: Snake holding beggers

This has really become a nuisance, along with the eunuchs at most traffic signals.
I for one never drive with the windows down, that I have found is the only solution as they leave you alone when you dont respond.

One of the incident which happened when i was studying in college.

I was waiting for bus in jaynagar 4th block and a girl approached me asking for money showing me the snake.
When i told her that i wont give any money she tried to scare me with the snake, the next moment i grabbed the snake walked 5 feet towards my left saying i wont give you the snake. She pleaded, took the snake and left the place.

Re: Snake holding beggers

@DCEite - I would strongly advice to raise glasses & simply ignore those jokers. Only if you hear them, we'll be provoked. Its quite true that these guys provoke (read it as threaten) us by saying "shaap" & other unwanted things.

In Chennai there's a different track; people come with a small lighted lamp, flowers in a plate & say they've offered God the money they take as alms. They too talk "shaap" but indirectly. Forget the signals, they even come come saying, they've fixed an alliance for their daughter & they're collecting (read it beg) money to get her married.

Initially, I used to consider these things very seriously & gave them money, but on repeated attempts, I was annoyed & lost my cool. But the point is be it snake or some other tactics, if God wants to punish me, why would he choose this only way? Means, why would God punish me just because I didn't help this guy? Why not for others?

Tell them back that you're on some kind of penace for all your bad deeds in last birth & if you gave them money, they will get all your "paap". Trust me, they'll still take money from you. They're not worried about it; all they need is vitamin M!!!

Re: Snake holding beggers

My solution for such people on traffic signals or anywhere is to simply ignore them. Talks never come into picture as I simply don't acknowledge their presence. If the windows are rolled down, simply roll them up.

These idiots are capable of scratching your back bumper with a nail , in case you refuse to oblige them without any one else noticing them. How can you avoid it?

Re: Snake holding beggers

heh. I've been duped out of rs 100 bucks by one of them - I was alone and half asleep waiting for driving instructor. they come and put python around your neck & ask for pooja. they force you do a pooja with 'biggest note in your purse' then fold it and the snake (some sorta python) just swallows it - BAM. then they say pooja ho gayi blah blah.

by the time my instructor came, this loser were nowhere to be found. Blood was otherwise going to be spilt, whether of the snake or its master. Any one I now find is welcomed with gaalis and threats of serious physical violence!

Re: Snake holding beggers

At first I was confused with the title of the thread and wondered why would a snake hold a beggar.

The best option is the roll up the windows, switch on the Music and enjoy the two minutes of tranquility and dont bother about the outside.

To give the beggar a taste of their own medicine start shaking your body as if you are in trance shouting wildly "Shambuji aa gaye".

1. Complain in Police Station

2. Complain to Wildlife Department

3. Provide fodder to newspapers / news channels. They would actually pay you for such juicy news.

This is exactly what my Dad warned me of during my first encounter with these snake wielders. I hope all those snakes develop a taste for our currency notes!

While in trance, also look at the snake and tell it to bite the one who're holding it!
