Spain drives on the right side of the road, not on the left. This is a spanish registered car. You can see the "E" on the license plates. E = España (Spain)

Main difference seems to be the front doors, and the fixed rear glass! Is it just the design fooling people, are are they really fixed? Any advantages for the same?

Yes, they are fixed glasses. The only advantage is Cost down that comes in my mind.

Re: PICS : Spotting of Indian models in foreign countries

In Dubai, I have seen many Pulsars, Splendors, Avengers, Scorpios believe it or not, even a Premier Padmini. I believe it was made for the Dubai market and quite a few Indians here purchased it. But they are no longer used on the roads due to a lack of power to keep pace with other cars here. On holiday in 2006, I was sitting in a McDonalds eating a burger and I look out of the window and to my surprise, I see a chutney green Padmini outside. Later on when I moved to Dubai, I think I saw the same one again but it was parked somewhere. Didn't get snaps either time. I have also seen a Tata Safari in the same area as I saw the Padmini the second time. There are also loads of Tata and Ashok Leyland buses which mainly ply for schools. My school bus was a Leyland.

Re: PICS : Spotting of Indian models in foreign countries

excellent thread . coming to Desi cars spotted outside india . Below is my list from my recent visits to KL and hong Kong

1 ) a tata 207 DI Pickup truck .
2 ) Mahindra Scorpio in KL.
3 ) A old battled Tata truck ( heavy duty one some LPT **** ) Being used as a garbage dump truck in KL

Many swifts / Toyota;s but don't consider them as Indian. did;t find anything in Hong Kong . the cost of owning and maintaining a car is very high there . approx 3200 Hong Kong Dollar as parking fee alone per month to govt if u own a car.

Re: PICS : Spotting of Indian models in foreign countries

Recently was at Gibraltar upon relief from ship and homebound. Was strolling around the hotel when spotted these.

Punto below seems way different than that we have.

I have found Indicas / Safaris in abundance in Malta.
Scorpio gateway is one of the popular cars in Algeria.
Numerous Maruti Suzukis in eastern europe.
Tata trucks in almost all continents, but more prominent in Africa.
Photos might be lying somehwere need to dig a bit.

Rgds.

A little OT here:
That's the original Punto. I think this one in the photo is the last version before Grande Punto. It was not sold in India, and the new Punto (Grande Punto) is not even based on the same platform.

And have you guys noticed that all the hatchbacks and SUVs of Indian origin have rear washer, wiper and defogger?

Our Indian cars? All the cars in your pics are of foreign rather than Indian origin. These cars are just license-manufactured in India. Perhaps many of the cars in your pics aren't even license-manufactured here since foreign auto majors prefer exporting cars from their home factories rather than India.

Re: PICS : Spotting of Indian models in foreign countries

I spotted quite a number of Indian (not literally!) cars on my recent trip to Paris, including Safari, i10, i20, Alto, WagonR, Polo, Micra and very popular Swift. Here is the picture of Swift I managed to capture on Paris streets!
