Time for a replacement to the R230. It's been around for 6 years, 8 when the 2009 one pops out, with minor facelifts. Change!

Yep, the facelifts are minor, but they sort of..ruin the effect of the entire car.

Guys.. I dont know if its been mentioned on the forum or not but are you bombay t-bhpians aware of a black S63 AMG ? I saw it when I was in bombay during christmas week. It was amazing, the exhaust note phenomenal and it had a white gypsy escort. I havnt heard anyone mention this car here. But Im positive it was a black S63 AMG.

This is going to be my brother's new ride. He sent me some pics for reference so posting them here. It's a SL65 AMG Black Series ! Sadly he's in New Zealand and I won't be able to go there for the next 8-10 months.

^^What an awesome colour to an even more awesome car! Never knew a Merc could look so good with the trademark Lambo colour!

I guess that colour is called "Papaya Orange".

Are you sure?
New Zealand is a RHD country and this vehicle is an LHD.

Man! That SL65 AMG Black Series looks so demonic in that shade.Accentuates its hardcore characteristic and gives it a very un-Mercedes-Benz feel.Has to be one of the most hardcore road going Mercs ever, since the CLK-GTR!

I agree, but in his defense he did say the pic was for reference. But even still shouldn't the display vehicle also be RHD?

Even the silver car appears to be an LHD

That is a gorgeous car. What a colour, man! Cheers!! :thumbs up

What an awesome car in such an awesome color. The orange gives it the much needed mad look.
What is the difference between a normal sl65 AMG and a black editon ? Only the exteriors right ?

Well the colour story is something like this - My bro called me up and said He has to buy a unique car. One of it's kind and rare as well. A vehicle which appeals all the five senses and which offers super-high performance. The only thing which came in my mind was AMG Black Series ! Then for the colour, I told him to get a "something extremely unusual for a mercedes" colour and he just agreed. The moment I saw the pics, I was left spell-bounded by the orange beauty ! It's like something you dream about and it comes to life ! That colour makes the car look alive !

My bro lives in NewZealand but the pics were forwarded to him by a MB-US official and friend.

MAD is the right word for this ! Well the difference between Normal SL65 AMG and Black Edition is weight reduction, bucket seats, some changes in the exterior, as well as performance upgrades (Performance upgrades not for every model Black Edition).

Well, here are some specs !

Mission:
To create a vehicle of outstanding prowess on track and off, whose every line and detail underscores it's dominance and top-level performance.

Engine:
Quite simply, the AMG 6.0L V12 Bi-turbo offers a stunning output - similar to new Lamborghini LP670-4 SV : 670 STALLIONS @ 5400 rpm !
Torque - Not to worry about, it's 1000 nm @ 2200-4200rpm !
The power and torque of this ultra-high performance machine is electronically limited to the above stated levels (Wonder if it wasn't limited ) ! Top speed is 320kmph (again, it's electronically limited !)
power-to-weight ratio - 3.79kg/kW

Transmission:
Matching outstanding performance with versatile drive dynamics, the SL65 AMG Black Series displays AMG transmission technology at it's best. An AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 5-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to the rear wheels. Four transimission modes available - Sports, comfort, manual 1, manual 2 (manual 2 has gearshift times 25% quicker than manual 1).

Drivetrain:
Reverse gear -3.16/-1.93
1st gear 3.60
2nd gear 2.19
3rd gear 1.41
4th gear 1.00
5th gear 0.83
FINAL DRIVE 2.65

Wheels:
Optimized AMG forged wheels - 265/35 ZR 19 up front and 325/30 ZR 20 down the rear.

Brakes:
On the front axle, braking is undertaken by 6-piston callipers and 390x36mm discs. The rear features 4-piston callipers and 360x26mm discs.

Timings:
0-60mph (97 kmph) = 3.6 sec
0-100mph (160 kmph) = 7.2 sec
Quarter mile = 11.5 sec at 128 mph (206kmph)

Fuel Consumption:
City: 22 L /100 kms
Highway: 10 L /100 kms
Total: 14.4 L /100 kms

Miscellaneous:
> The SL65 AMG is the first car to be equipped with integrated extending CF rear spoiler, which automatically comes up at 120kmph (manual control also possible).
> Air vents at 7 different areas placed nicely for a healthy amount of air intake.
> Weight - 1870 kg. Thanks to carbon fibre !
> Door insert - notice the carbon fibre panel on the door with AMG badge !

There is one in Delhi, part of cannonball club.
