Is it because the owner is trying to protect the original shade from the elements or accidental damage?

Black seems to play down the fact that its a Lambo. The unique original shade had a lot of visual appeal and I felt made the Lambo look docile and pretty, if I can say so.

On second thoughts, you sure this is the Rosso Leto Gallardo from Chennai that has got the wrap? Might be that the Delhi car has been sold to someone in Chennai. Again just a guess !

Here's a photo of 2005's M5 taken from netcarshow.com for reference.

The lights make me think if this particular car is just a modded one.

But if it is a genuine M5, then it has been very elusive all these years.

This is a genuine E60 M5. Surprised you've missed it all these years. It was featured here on t-bhp when new as the first in Chennai and maybe amongst the first in the country. If Im not mistaken these tail lamps have been on it since new. It was either SB the south indian food chain or SS the retailers. Nowadays its chauffeur driven.

Then, I had seen this car earlier but someone told me that it was just a regular 5 kitted out in M fit.

The car was doing good speed, maintained well I guess.

Yup ! Its a genuine silverstone example. Doubt any imposter will go to those lengths to paint it that colour. You're right its been maintained very well and is age-ing extremely well compared to some of its peers.

Is there a new RR Ghost in dual shades (Blue with white) new in chennai. Noted one in the OMR yesterday travelling towards Sholinganallur from Thuraipakkam with registration plate (TN XX X 6666 - not remembering the digits in X). Sorry couldn't click pictures as i was behind the wheels.

It was chauffer driven having a security in Safari suit with an old person in the rear. Guess some CEO or a business man.

Something in a similar shade like this (Though the blue was a little more metallic giving a close illusion to Purple, this was taken from RR customizing option in their website)
