Yeah, like I said, Lexus badging for Toyota's is very common. Most of the Lexus LX470 SUV's that you see on Indian roads are usually Toyota Landcruisers...

baaah... whats the difference anyway. All Lexus cars are re-badged Toyota's anyway, except for their latest models designed from ground up for the US market like the IS and LS.

The Lexus brand was created by Toyota when it wanted to get into the high end auto market to compete with the likes of Mercedes and BMW and to distance its image as a economy / budget car manifacturer.

Hense no Lexus cars are sold with the Toyota name or its symbol on them let also having both as seen in this picture.

This is obviously a case where someone has stuck Lexus tags on a humble Soarer. The Soarer was only sold as a Toyota not a Lexus.

I knew that Lexus is a sub brand of Toyota but I didn't know that all the SUV's of Lexus are actually land cruisers...

not all, most of them are the same (eg: the Lexus lx470 and prev gen Landcruiser. Both are big brutes, and very comfy inside. and in india, the most common badge swap toyota). Since they are made by the same company, the Engine & chassis are the same, albeit with slight modifications.

Lexuses have more leather, wood and other cosmetic treatments, to justify the price.

friends lexus is the luxury car division of toyota right? Are they just rebadged toyotas? One of my friends in middle east told me lexus SUVs are far superior than toyota SUVs like landcruiser.

All Lexus SUV's are not rebadged Toyota's. Lexus actually makes good SUV's with better features (as JayR mentioned in above post) but it is not uncommon in places like India and the Middle East for local traders to take a Toyota SUV and put Lexus badges on it to sell it at a higher price. You can spot the difference if you know Lexus well enough, but most people don't. This is possible because the Toyota SUV and the Lexus SUV are based on a similar design and look like twin brothers.

Such parctices I am sure are common in India but in the Middle East the dealer would be history if he attempted to switch badges.

The Lexus branded SUV cater more to the high end users who want to drive a SUV with all the creature comforts and maybe occasionally climb a curb or something similar. The cars are actually to heavy for decent off road performance.

The basic bodyshell of the LS 570 and the current Land Cruiser is the same. The differences are in level of interior / exterior trim and engines.
