im not sure about the way this looks. i think i like the stock grills better and damn that silver has gone boring just had a look at the red one and one starts drooling. then its personal choice so what the heck. nice find though. pune has tons of exotics for sure.

Echo on your thoughts Gamerno, its what under the hood that matters ! ...moreover just wondering how much this custom bonnet would have cost,it certainly just can't be lifted from the SLK as the bonnet of the latter is smaller than the SL.

SL500 in Pune...

We all have seen this car at the rally... the silver SL500 from pune... Everytime I see this car what I don't understand is that why does the front part look like that of the SLR... The F1 Styling is what I'm talking about...

This is the front part of the normal SL500..

And this the front part of the SL500 in Pune...

Front part of the SLR

Compare the looks... How come its different? Can anyone please clarify on this???

It's simply a modified SL500. A custom job basically. Gotta give the dude credit for taking the risk. Doesn't look too bad, although it reminds me more of an SLK sadly.

Heres another link of the 'SLK nosed' SL500 from the supposedly 'supercar' rally

The length and slope of the bonnet points more to the SLR than SLK. Surely the owner knows the difference between the two and would also be sure that his target audience would also be aware of the SLR looks (to identify it) and hence would also be able to tell that this is actually a SL. So his intent has not been to say, "hey I have a SLR". But his intent must have been purely his own wish to have a SL car with the SLR Nose. So although many of us might prefer the stck front to this one lets respect his preference.

I don't know. I think both of them have their own charm!

Actually they don't. So many people tell me that they've seen an SLR in Pune. So I show em the pics, and then they're convinced! The guy who owns this car knows his cars very well, so its not like he'll go around shouting "I've got an SLR look-alike".

For now, look out for an SL55 AMG in Pune. It is to arrive in 3-4 days. Its black and its good.

I don't think an SL owner really cares whether people know the difference or not. It's done for personal satisfaction because it looks good and its different.
