| ![]() Thanks Gaurav...I was just lucky to get the fotos thro mail! Guyz..This is what I heard about Sachin's Ferrari- It is not a Gift From Ferrari/FIAT/Schumaker. This was part of the package he got from FIAT for endorsing their brand in India. Do u remember the FIAT ADs with Sachin & the Palio S10? It was for that. The Car Gift thing will work out as such a BIG AD Campaign for FIAT. Didn't it? Also I guess if the Import Duty had to be paid then FIAT would have done that. I'm not a big fan of his...but still please don't badmouth him...afterall he deserves credit for what he's done to Cricket as a an excellent Player. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() obviously the 360 is not a gift. Fiat and Sachin called it a "gift" since they wanted to evade duties. So they called it as a gift for breaking some record. You cannot declare a gift / prize after somebody breaks a record. It has to be announced prior to accomplishing it. If that was the case, then there's no duty incurred. Since he was given the 360 as a part of the payment, he was liable to pay the duties. The "gift" was just an excuse to evade duties. Quote:

| ![]() yes V12 I agree that Sachin shouldn't have misused his position to get Tax benefits....but what I felt was that he shouldn't be treated(badmouthed) like just another politician who usually get these benefits... ..anyways it is just a irony that some Life saving drugs do not enjoy the kind of tax Exemption that a Superstars Ferrari enjoys!! ..It happens only in India!! |

Senior - BHPian | ![]() Boss, if you are in business doesn't anyone claim tax benefits or tax breaks all the time. Its upto the government to decide whether or not to give a tax break. He has every right to ask. Don't tell me none of you'll have asked for a tax break or ... Pure hypocracy. No one is a saint when it comes to Income tax. I'm not pointing fingers but people cheat with medical bills, housing rental receipts, LTA whatnot. Just because Sachin was given a Ferrari doesn't mean he has no right to appeal to the government for a tax break. |
