BS Motoring reports that Hyosung is launching the Naked variant of the GT650 tomorrow (13th Oct 2011). Price and more details to follow.

The upfront looks of the half-fairing version never appealed me. This I feel is more of a looker, in the lines of the old Ducati Monster. And, stripping off means more efficient cooling in our conditions.

Hope it is priced well too, considering the fact that the half fairing version is priced well above the chief rival, the Kwacker 650R.

Good move, Hyosung :thumbs up

Sorry for being pedantic but GT650R is a full-fairing version not a half-fairing version as you mentioned.

Hyosung had a gala time last time when they brought two lots of 250 each of their Comet GT 250 bike, these were lapped by the enthusiast like anything but the scenario has changed big time. Today marked is very competitive, most of the big players are here. In such scenario Hyosung is having a really hard time, the decision to bring the Naked variant is off spring of the desperation on part of Hyosung to taste success which seem to be eluding it for now.

Should be faster than the GT650R too thanks to the missing fairing and engines being in the same tune. This one would also be more comfy to ride thanks to raised handlebars. Rumor suggests a price gap of Rs 40-50k between the naked and the faired one. With no fairing to hide that sweet-looking V-twin, this one will sure pull eye-balls at traffic signals and fry your neighbors legs while at it too. :D

Now if only Garware had a wider network and less question marks on their long-term reliability.....

Oh and Scorcher, this pic you've put up is of the previous version. The current version has a more modern-looking headlamp which looks very similar to that of the FZ-16 (Bad???)

This might not be totally true.

Couple of things with naked bikes. One the sitting position is more upright then a fair-ed bike. This takes away the aerodynamics of a crouched rider. Second the fairings itself help to streamline the aerodynamics of the bike, again helping it to move faster. State of tune being constant.

agree:You're right..My bad actually ! I meant faster in the sense of acceleration from rest and not top-speed. Again as you correctly mentioned beyond a certain speed, the faired bike might out-accelerate this one due to less drag.

Wow this is one amazing bit of news, many thanks for that Scorcher. Would you have any more details around the technical specifications? If they were to price it around the 450K mark they should do themselves a whale of good.
The bike (agreed might be an old model) is for sure looks quite handsome. Would there be any chance that Team BHP gets to review this?

Any news on the launch? I didn't see anything on their website about the naked 650!

The launch will be happening in pune at around 1'o'clock.

Just got off the phone with Garware, they are launching the bike tomorrow & it will be available for a test ride. On-road price is quoted at 5lakhs, approx 35k cheaper than the one with the full body fairing.

Looks better. I hate fairing.
Is the headlight round shaped and does it turn with the handlebar? Or am I dreaming too much?:D

Hyosung Garware - GT650N Naked

Website up with the details...

Ok, So they are launching the face-lifted variant, somehow this variant with FZesque head light is not as appealing as the round one of earlier variant.

Keeping aside how muhc better bike the 650R is over the fully faired Hyosung counterpart, Garware need to launch this bike atleast a lakh cheaper than on-road pricing of the Ninja 650R to manage any significant numbers out of this activity.
Contrary to the critics, most potential buyers in the premium space prefer the faired sportsbike look over the naked street bike platform, and owning a Kawasaki Ninja is a statement that even someone who does not know a thing about motorcycles would understand.
Garware/Hyosung can't possibly hope to match the brand value that Ninja has worldwide. Period.

Is it just me or does anyone actually hate the headlamp design which is a poor copy of the Monster's headlamp???
Somehow i did not like this bike.Maybe its because it looks plain jane without the fairing!

^^+1 to what manson said.

A 50 odd k lesser than Faired variant won't be making it an attractive proposition for a prospective buyer, price it somewhere around 4 and Garware might see their cash register ringing.

Apart from this they should have brought the 250s also to get a foot hold through the volumes.
