re: My Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow!

wow! congrats on the bike.
a neighbor of mine who works in navy sold his DC modified car, a yamaha roadster, and another chopper to buy this model of harley and man this is a desirable machine. i am not a bike person but everyday when i see his bike while taking my car out of parking it tempts me to buy at least a RE classic (that is what i can afford )

Re: My Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow!

I just did a 1200 km on the Harley from Hyderabad to Cochin. The Harley is surprisingly comfy; powerful, handles well, cruises great. Forward control and apes will make it a good tourer. Want to do many more trips now..

Re: My Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow!

Josepeter, where did you buy the V&H pipes from? Was it in India and if not, how did you manage to import them. Does fitting this cause any issue with the warranty?

God that rumble is addictive, ive watched the video 4 times.
You can buy them online...I also heard that a Mumbai based dealership for Vance&Hines is on the cards. Slip-ons do not void warranty.

Hot bike and cool pics. Nice collage that one is, sums up quite a bit.
Btw, Jose, we met up a few months back, I bet you wouldn't remember .

Clue: One of your neighbors who is also a friend of mine introduced me to you and he always appreciates your great passion and eye for detail.

You summed up the dilemma that the superlow presents to potential buyers. I remain unconvinced that this bike is any good for our roads. It might be at home on dual carriage ways where speedbreakers and curves are rare and this the ONLY terrain where it would make perfect sense, everywhere else it would be a pain. Considering how easy it is to scrape footpegs on a bullet and how much I hated that, not looking forward to that sickening feeling at all. But then, if it were to ride high, it wouldn't be a Harley. The sound track is addictive and it looks stunning - every bit a Harley and that is the hook.

Allow me to congratulate you on your purchase, rest assured that you are living the dream of millions of Indians.

Modding and Living with a Harley for 4500 Kms

Whats it like?

HeMan overnight!

Bosses respect you!

Bikers respect you!

Car guys envy you!

Married guys ask you : How the heck did u get her to agree?

My 3 yr.old says "HARLEY DAVIDSON" ever so clearly!

No more Blues : Just ride the Iron Maiden!

A whole new family : Banjara Harley HOG

Heck yes! I even get preferential treatment from my TATA A$$

Whats the bike like?

The most comfortable small Harley you could buy! ( IMO only touring models are more comfortable!)

Very good initial acceleration!

Superb handling for a 260 Kg bike!

Good brakes and great to cut through traffic!

Good touring ability : Cramster stallion saddlebags fit perfect!

Exhaust note is pure heavy metal!

Ground clearance is nil. Humps stop you completely.

What are the mods like?

1. Vance & Hines slip-ons
2. Screamin Eagle Heavy breather
3. Chromed and drilled belt drive cover
4. Chromed rear sub-frame cover
5. Chromed side stand
6. Custom air brushed gas tank

Riding and Living with a Harley:

I did ride the Harley on a 2500 Km solo road-trip from Hyderabad to Cochin and back.
Rode for 11 hours straight twice; expected a sore back and a dead butt..NOthing!
The throttle locking arrangement is a boon for long rides..can do a hands-free!
Returns between 24 and 30 Kms mileage on the highway. The latter at a sedate 90-100 kmph.
The alloy rims did take quite a beating from our roads...both rim have bent lips; not enough to leak though; but I was told it is an easy fix to get the alloys true again.
I was told to use as little water as possible for washing. Have ordered for "Optimim NO RINSE"; uses minimal water and no rinsing.

Summing up: Im very happy so far..

cool bike!! neat mods! congratulations
one question though.. that exposed air filter .. wouldn't that be a problem in rains or if water splashes while riding?

Re: My Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow!

Me too have got the same question. It has got killer looks though. And how much did it cost you? Was it provided by the dealer? And any idea to put a pillion seat? Are these accessories from HD a costly affair? Im planning to pick up one super-low after an year or so. Savings are on..

Re: My Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow!

Congrats, Josepeter on your new ride.

Used to have a Royal Enfield 500cc, recently handed over to a friend of mine from the MyFiatWorld club. Did not get time to enjoy the rides hence felt it is good if someone else enjoys.

Now, looking at your beauty getting tempted, the "keeda" is rising again especially after your statement of riding 11hrs without any strain..Kudos !!

Cheers and Ride Safe

Thats a screamin eagle heavy breather; they cost ~ 20K from the dealer here. Pillion seat is there on the bike now. Harley accessories are an expensive affair...no wonder dealers are called "stealers" worldwide.

Good Luck with your plans.

As done on a friends bike-

The parts required to up the GC by 20mm (in real terms ou get about 15mm+some) is :
a) Front damper tubes
b) rear shock absorbers

Estimated cost is about INR 20000+little.

It works, but you have to find a bike or two thats got this done, talk to owners and figure out if you want (as in- is it worth it?) the increase before you spend.

Cost- as told.
