re: My Garage: Suzuki Bandit GSF1250 & Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Z1000SX Back with some updates, vitalizing the dead thread
Started working on the 1000RR after returning from work. Got the aftermarket rear sets off the bike and installed the OEM setup, finally my heavy body could breathe comfortably with the accurate seating posture.
Was facing a weird problem with the self-starter motor, cold start would be easy and a heated vehicle would crank as if battery was low but it showed the required voltage the battery should carry. Removed the rider seat and to my surprise it was running a Ballistic Evo 2 8 Cell Li-On Battery which is suitable for track use with race fairings and low on power consuming electricals.
Replaced the Li-on Battery the Duke Exide LTZ9 Battery and the starting issues was sorted.
After getting the ergonomics and electricals sorted it was time to get the bike services in and out. Got the oil, coolant and brake oil replaced. Throttle body was cleaned thoroughly and after putting the bike together felt like something is missing or the power delivery and fuel is not burning properly. Concluded with checking the spark plugs and have a look at the old plugs condition, looked like these are the first set of plugs which came along with the bike from the factory and haven’t been changed since then. Replaced the 2012 make Metz rubber with mid 2016 make Bridgestone Batlax T30 Evo 120/70 ZR17 and 190/55 ZR17.
Was cleaning and washing the CBR and found the oil pressure switch signal wire was eaten up by rats with the previous owner, repaired the wire and sleeved it well.
Added some accessories link the headlight tints and programmed 2 new keys for the CBR.
Long awaited work on the Bandit too was completed this time. Right hand side mirror was broken and repaired by the previous owner replaced it with OEM brand new one. Lower cowl of the front fairing was missing which was fixed. It has oem indicators in the front and splendor indicators at the rear, replaced those with amber color oem shaped ones. During a regular service found the airfilter was a complete jugaad on the bandit, replaced it with a nice K&N Airfilter. I don’t understand why people don’t like to maintain their bikes with proper replacement parts, OEM airfilter costs just 1100 bucks at any dream Suzuki workshop and I guess one who can afford to buy a 6L worth bike, buying 1100 ka filter isn’t out of his affordability.
Tried an aftermarket SC project exhaust on the bandit, it did sound well but didn’t like the mounting pattern so gave it to the other bandit friend and it did fit well on this Yoshi mid pipe which was of proper size matching to the SC.
That’s all for now, will get back with more updated by the end of March. Enjoy the pics meanwhile. |
