Congratulations on the new acquisition, Yogi. The Bandit is indeed a very very practical and mature bike. I rode it once and simply loved the progressive power delivery. Does this come with an aftermarket can?

re: My Suzuki Bandit S & Honda CBR 954RR (CBR 600 F2 & Hayabusa sold)

Congrats Yogi on the new ride, you bagged the bandit ! It's one of the most underrated bikes , only because it's not tuned for high power and lacks the latest gizmos and suspension, full fairing. I don't know if I could live with the 250kg weight though.

Appears you live in an apartment block like most of us, do you leave the bikes uncovered ? I wouldn't dare leave my big bike(s) uncovered in a common parking. So do you mod the Bandit as many do in the US, or better off close to stock for a reliable touring machine ?

Thanks bro. yes the bandit is very practical and can be sued for daily riding. Loved the initial power delivery and believe me the bandit too does the numbers which the 954 can do. Its fitted with a race fit kind off exhaust, just like the MGP of your 954 and yes its loud.

Yes bandit is the most underrated but somehow I was behind the bandit since last 2 years, just roll back a couple of pages and you would find my post searching for the bandit. Its a nice machine and would keep it stock.
Yes I do stay in a small building with multiple apartments and we have a open but covered stilt parking for 2 wheelers, no fixed dedicated slots but all bikes under the stilt. From this parking area 3 slots are for me and no one dares to put their bikes in that area and its like "Iska gaadi ko haath nai lagane ka" type.

I prefer to keep my bikes uncovered to avoid the risk of rats getting in and enjoying a feast with the wiring noodles. Moreover its an eye candy for the bypassers from the front of the building who keep peeping inside to see what new has come in.

Came back to work today and bikes are in Hibernation mode for 5 weeks.

re: My Suzuki Bandit & Honda CBR 954RR (CBR 600 F2 & Hayabusa sold)

We did ride in August during the rains, but did short breakfast meets only. Here are few pics of the meets.
Many changes happened in the last month. Repsol and Busa were replaced with R1 and Bandit respectively and the Blue 600RR found a new home.

re: My Suzuki Bandit & Honda CBR 954RR (CBR 600 F2 & Hayabusa sold)

Was facing some low voltage issue with the 954, the battery is almost 2 years that I am using and this is what came in the bike , dont know how old it is. the OEM rectifier failed in 2-3 months of having the bike and since then running a chinese rectifier, working fine so far and costs 1/10th of the OEM.
Since the center bulb low beam works as a DRL on the 954 which remains on throughout, with the normal halogen bulbs the Voltmeter was reading 13.6 at Idle, to cover up the low voltage I had plugged out the Low beam connector and was riding. Thought of giving a try with the LED bulbs and see if it makes a difference. Results are visible in the pics, voltmeter now reads 14.2 at idle with the Low beam running, low battery voltage issue sorted for the time being. Once the battery gives up will replace it , till then extracting every drop of it.

How practical is the LED? And how much for? I've also been contemplating a lower wattage bulb for the low beam; or, if feasible, have a switch.

Well the LED's are a bit less brighter than the Halogens, ofcoz these are cheap 10 USD/Pair Chinese ones, but does the job well. Illumination is not bad but not like the Halogens. For temporary use U can just unplug the center socket and ride.

re: My Garage: Suzuki Bandit GSF1250 & Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Z1000SX

I guess when Yogi meant new 1000RR, he meant it as a new addition to his superbike family and not brand new.

Congrats on the 1000RR Yogi. Bike looks to be in excellent condition. Could you post some more pics and details please and obviously mods planned

Out of curiosity (please feel free not to answer if it's personal - and Mods can then edit this question out of the post). Why do you change your bikes so often? Is it because you get bored with some and look for something more exciting? Or is it something is exciting and you are looking for something more exciting? Is it because you get a good deal on the exchange?
Just curious because the only people I have seen changing bikes so often and dealers - and I don't think you are one.

Now coming to an interesting question - out of all the bikes that you have owned - right from the CBR600F to the Bandit - which one did you love the most and why?
A short like and dislikes of each of the bike you owned will really be helpful.

Thanks and Congrats again. Time to report this post for a title change

Dear Yogi,

How about a detailed new thread/detailed on buying used superbikes? Also sourcing spares and service where A.S.S. isn't available
Your experience can help a lot of us. I get perplexed by random prices and out of state registrations apart from grey/legal

Absolutely correct bro.

Well yes the bike is in excellent mechanical condition but with a few cosmetic niggles here and there, manageable and will get it back to mint condition gradually. On the mods planned I am blank yet what to do as it already carries the below addons.

Power Commander 5
Secondary Fuel Module
Dynojet Quick Shifter
Gi Pro gear Indicator
Full System Yoshi Rs5
Vortex sprockets
Racing Chain
K&N Air and Oil Filter
Motion pro quick throttle
Lithium Battery
Adjustable rear sets
Do you have any suggestions over the above.

My answer to this is yes getting bored is on the top of the list. Have been playing a lot with these older machines and somehow get attracted to the newer ones which gives an itch for change.

Dude its the BANDIT, I am short of words to explain more on this. Meet me on a weekend ride and lets exchange our bikes. Then I would like you to elaborate about the Bandit. BTW 2 bandits in our group now, yellow 600rr was replaced with a bandit immediately after he test rode mine.

I will try my best for a detailed thread on buying used SBK's but I guess there is one existing thread on the same to which I can add some bullet points.
On sourcing parts I would strongly suggest either you have a person carrying stuff from the USA / UK or you go for an INDIAN Billing where A.S.S facility is available. Had to source few parts for the bandit recently and believe me getting parts from Indian Suzuki officially was cheaper than buying from Japan or USA. Spares are cheapest in the US Market but when it came to buying parts here I would say they were 10% cheaper then Partzilla prices.
On the prices yes agreed market is spoiled but its better to get engaged with the direct owner than any dealer in middle and a out state registered legal SBK is safer than buying a grey market SBK.

re: My Garage: Suzuki Bandit GSF1250 & Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Z1000SX

Back with some updates, vitalizing the dead thread

Started working on the 1000RR after returning from work. Got the aftermarket rear sets off the bike and installed the OEM setup, finally my heavy body could breathe comfortably with the accurate seating posture.

Was facing a weird problem with the self-starter motor, cold start would be easy and a heated vehicle would crank as if battery was low but it showed the required voltage the battery should carry. Removed the rider seat and to my surprise it was running a Ballistic Evo 2 8 Cell Li-On Battery which is suitable for track use with race fairings and low on power consuming electricals.
Replaced the Li-on Battery the Duke Exide LTZ9 Battery and the starting issues was sorted.
After getting the ergonomics and electricals sorted it was time to get the bike services in and out. Got the oil, coolant and brake oil replaced. Throttle body was cleaned thoroughly and after putting the bike together felt like something is missing or the power delivery and fuel is not burning properly. Concluded with checking the spark plugs and have a look at the old plugs condition, looked like these are the first set of plugs which came along with the bike from the factory and haven’t been changed since then. Replaced the 2012 make Metz rubber with mid 2016 make Bridgestone Batlax T30 Evo 120/70 ZR17 and 190/55 ZR17.
Was cleaning and washing the CBR and found the oil pressure switch signal wire was eaten up by rats with the previous owner, repaired the wire and sleeved it well.
Added some accessories link the headlight tints and programmed 2 new keys for the CBR.
Long awaited work on the Bandit too was completed this time. Right hand side mirror was broken and repaired by the previous owner replaced it with OEM brand new one. Lower cowl of the front fairing was missing which was fixed. It has oem indicators in the front and splendor indicators at the rear, replaced those with amber color oem shaped ones. During a regular service found the airfilter was a complete jugaad on the bandit, replaced it with a nice K&N Airfilter. I don’t understand why people don’t like to maintain their bikes with proper replacement parts, OEM airfilter costs just 1100 bucks at any dream Suzuki workshop and I guess one who can afford to buy a 6L worth bike, buying 1100 ka filter isn’t out of his affordability.
Tried an aftermarket SC project exhaust on the bandit, it did sound well but didn’t like the mounting pattern so gave it to the other bandit friend and it did fit well on this Yoshi mid pipe which was of proper size matching to the SC.
That’s all for now, will get back with more updated by the end of March. Enjoy the pics meanwhile.
