That's part of the Cafe Racer origins and its charm!

Back in the 60s, when the Cafe Racers were born, the original bikes were stripped down of anything that was deemed unnecessary to the core purpose of these bikes - racing from one cafe hangout to another!

As both the motorcycles will be based on KTM’s much successful 390 Duke, the upcoming Husqvarna duo will be built around a trellis frame and feature WP upside down forks upfront, a monoshock at the rear, and Bosch 9.11MB two-channel ABS system. Mechanical specifications would be shared between the two as well and the Husqvarna duo will use the 2017 KTM 390 Duke sourced 373.3cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that’s tuned for 44.1 PS of power and 37 Nm of torque.
But apart from similar underpinnings and the engine, both motorcycles get completely different aesthetics. The Vitpilen 401 is a cafe racer while the Svartpilen 401 is a Scrambler. So while the Vitpilen 401 gets sleek bodywork, and clip-on handlebars, the Svartpilen 401 features a rugged persona. Moreover, the Vitpilen 401 will feature street-focused Metzeler M5 tyres while the Svartpilen 401 will come equipped with off-road spec rubber with knobby pattern.

The cafe racer looks beautiful! Damn! I want to buy one and have it parked along with my 2017 RC 390 It has almost same ergonomics of the RC from the pics I saw.

Wow, that is almost review level scoop pics. The bikes look nice- my pick from the group is the scrambler one.

The biggest attraction for me is the spoke wheels and tyres - hope they will be a direct fit on Duke 200 I searched but could not find if the tyres are tubeless - if yes, that is a double treat for me.

Trivia: Vitpilen means “White Arrow” in Swedish and Svartpilen means “Black Arrow.” ...and to me the Vitpilen looks killer!

Probably the wrong thread to upload a video about the Vitpilen 701. But Ari very beautifully explains that the decision to buy this would be more heart over head decision and then lavishes a whole lot of praise. Looks like this would not go for huge volumes and carve a wonderful part of the market. For Husky to find a niche under its new ownership, this is exactly what they would have wanted to hear.

Husqvarna range to be introduced as CBU initially - followed by increased localisation later.

Speaking to analysts, Rakesh Sharma, Chief Commercial Officer, Bajaj Auto said, “We will begin with models sourced out of Austria but the teams are working in extending the partnership for design and development in India for the Husqvarna brand. I cannot talk about the timeline for launching the new line of products from Husqvarna.”

Husqvarna to launch Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401 by end-2020

According to media reports, Husqvarna is planning to launch the Vitpilien 401 and Svartpilen 401 in India by the end of this year.



The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 are based on the KTM Duke 390. The Vitpilen 401 is a cafe-racer styled bike featuring clip-on handle bars. The Svartpilen 401 is Scrambler type bike featuring raised handle bars for a more upright riding posture. Both bikes ride on wire-spoke wheels shod with dual purpose tyres.



The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 will be powered by the 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the KTM 390 Duke. This engine produces 43 BHP and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an anti-hopping clutch. The bikes will compete with the likes of the Bajaj Dominar and BMW G 310 R in the Indian market.

Husqvarna also offers the Vitpilen and Svartpilen with a 250cc engine. The bikes are priced from Rs. 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

According to a media report, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 may not be launched in India anytime soon.



The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpelin 401 are based on the KTM 390 Duke. Both bikes have been spotted testing quite a few times in the past, which led to speculations about Husqvarna planning to launch them in India.



Bajaj has been manufacturing both the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 at its Chakan plant since 2019. However, currently, there are no plans to introduce these bikes in the Indian market.
