As per the NDTV.com news article, the Duke 790 has been teased by KTM.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"The Austrian firm is calling the new engine the LC8c (c for compact), and according to buzz from the EICMA 2016, the same 800cc parallel-twin will also find its way to an adventure bike, in all likelihood under KTM's sister brand Husqvarna. KTM says the 790 Duke will bring "unparalleled poise, telepathic levels of feedback and lightness that's off the scale"."

I am all ears and hoping that this model has a price-to-value appeal of the Duke 390, for us in India.

Thread moved from the Assembly Line to the Superbikes & Imports Section. Thanks for sharing!

This is one bike which many of us are awaiting for the launch in India.

It seems like a younger sibling of the Ducati Hypermotard 821 which has an output of 110 bhp at 175 Kg weight.

Power to weight ratio and price has been the game for KTM till now looking at the Duke 390 and RC 390 in India.

If the overall package of Duke 790 arrives even close as similar to that of Duke 390 including the price; it is going to be tough times for Kawasaki, Triumph and other leading brands in this mid-segment that is 600s and 800s.

I personally am eagerly waiting for this as I perceive it to be the best Value For Money deal. :D

RUMOR - Latest update on this I have heard.

Duke 790 is NOT coming to India :Frustrati.

I am personally waiting for this but if it is not coming to India, this is going to be a big loss to the riders here & a huge relief to the other brands. :deadhorse

Seems like KTM has already started testing of it newest member Duke 790. I was completely blown away by the twin cylinder precision of this naked beast. so here it is guys, KTM Duke 790. Will it make its way to India? We would love that now, wouldn't we..lol:

MCN has ridden the KTM 790 Duke prototype, and are gushing about it -

The bike seems to have enough oomph. Sample this from the review -

"On first impressions, and if the final production bikes feel as good as this prototype, it seems that the 790 Duke will sit towards the top of the class. It looks great and has plenty of lovely touches that will make ownership a pleasure."

The dash (like the Duke 390) is again a good-looking TFT (albeit a different looking dash):

Also, as speculated, the exhaust has moved to the side now:

All eyes on the EICMA 2017 now. Let's hope this beast comes to India! clap:

Hope this beast makes it to India, more so as it might get manufactured here! Most of the big bikes we have here are either too bulky, or they cost a bomb to service, Duke 790 could change the game completely!

Even single cylinder versions seem to have enough excitement, twin would quench my thirst for power and for sure bike would be fun enough!

The production version of the KTM Duke 790 was launched at EICMA and it looks like a brilliant package. More importantly, KTM have indicated that it will be assembled in India in 2019.

Some highlights:
Powerdrift have said in their recent video that it may be priced below 5 lakh  (Can't post the link here from a work computer). I personally feel that price tag may be a bit ambitious, given the overall package, but it has the potential to upset the segment if priced well.

Imagine that. Street Triple level performance at a Z650 price tag. And just look at it! Looks like a mini Superduke. Am keeping an eye on this one.

What a machine this would be. Knowing the incredible value all KTMs come at I wouldn't be surprised if they retail this under 7 lakh on road. That should really set the cat amongst the pigeons in the very hot middle weight category. Loaded to the gills and pure rush machine at 60% of the on road price.

On a separate note, I see all these machines now coming with pricey TFT screens - I wish these could come with some protective design around them. Trust me they are going to be very expensive to replace in the event of damage from falls.

KTM has announced the UK prices for its Duke 790, and it costs £8,499. In comparison, the DUke 390 costs £4,699. Essentially, KTM has priced the Duke 790 around an 81% premium over the Duke 390.

If we assume a similar pricing strategy in India, KTM should be pricing the Duke 790 at around 5.06 Lacs! clap:

Although it seem the Duke 790 will only be launched in 2019, once KTM has started the production locally.

Still, at a price point of around 5-7 lacs, the Duke 790 should find a lot of takers. :)

Like the concept bike except the headlight.

P.S : Mods, I am not sure if this is the right thread to post this. Please move the post to the right thread if incorrect.

Hiya guys,
I had a chance to see the 2018 KTM Duke 790 in the metal during the MCN show over the weekend. Man, what a machine! I am blown over by this bike. And not just me, this bike was gathering a lot of interest amongst the show-goers.

I managed to get some seat time on the bike, it felt wonderful. It's not too tall and I could plant my feet firmly on the ground (I am almost 5.11') The dash thought entirely digital is different from its younger sibling Duke 390. I prefer 390's dash over this ones.

Managed to click these pics:

The upswept exhausts are unique, I am not sure how the heat management will be for our climes.

The headlights are similar to 2018 Duke 390

I love the bike in this colour scheme.

Cheers

I've been planning on getting myself a change of rides and if the Duke 790 is going to be priced in the 5-6 lac range, this would definitely be the first choice on my list. The Duke 790 has a 825 mm seat height though, as per rushlane, and anything above 800-810 mm is beyond my comfort zone. If possible, will need to figure out ways in which the seat can be lowered.

That's a surprise. Quite a dramatic change from your current cruiser. :)

Will it replace the Baron or just add to the garage?

Depends on whether it will be built in India or imported. Any idea?

£8,499 means its £100 above Z900 in the UK, which as we know - retails at 7.68L ex showroom in India.
