re: Kawasaki unveils the all-new 2019 ZX6R 636! Now launched at 10.49L

Wish it had the looks in line of ZX10R instead of the 400 Hope its priced close to the Ninja 1000 and not more, globally this seems to be know for its VFM price tag.

re: Kawasaki unveils the all-new 2019 ZX6R 636! Now launched at 10.49L

Considering it's actually cheaper than the Ninja 1000 in US, wouldn't a 8.99L ex-showroom be about right?

It's 10.49L ex-showroom. Wish they'd kept it under 10L at least.

15th Jan 2019 India Kawasaki reveals the price of all-new Ninja ZX-6R in India. In October 2018, the entry of the Ninja ZX-6R was announced with pre-booking facility. Designed to deliver the fun and excitement of a supersport machine to a wide range of riders, the Ninja ZX-6R offers superior performance and provides riding exhilaration in situations ranging from the track to the hills and the highway to the city.

Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd said, “We are happy to introduce Ninja ZX-6R, which has done remarkably well in WorldSSP racing competitions. It not only had good number of pole positions, but also won the championship twice in last four years. While the Ninja ZX-6R is performing well in various international racing competitions, we are sure our customers in India will enjoy riding this supersport bike. After pre-booking announcement, we have received overwhelming response with excellent number of bookings. We are confident and positive about the performance of our Ninja ZX-6R in the Indian market.”

The Ninja ZX-6R features high-grade technological features like KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System), KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control), Twin LED headlamps, LED taillight, KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter) and the silencer with a sporty look. The high-grade instrumentation has newly added features in fuel gauge and remaining range function. Apart from this, it has also a large analogue tachometer flanked by warning lamps on one side, a gear position indicator and multi-function LCD screen on the other. Bridgestone’s latest sport tyres BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S22 contribute to lighter handling, while offering superior grip in both dry and wet conditions, which translates to greater rider confidence and enjoyment. Like the Ninja ZX-10R, the Ninja ZX-6R will be assembled in India as a single seater motorcycle.

The introductory price of the all-new Ninja ZX-6R is Rs. 10,49,000 (Ex-Showroom). A significant change in the price is imminent. Customers who pre-booked the bike will start getting deliveries from February 2019 onwards. For new booking and delivery related information, customers can visit their nearest Kawasaki dealers.
Prices of some other superbikes for comparison -
Ninja 1000 - 9.99L
Ninja ZX6R - 10.49L
Triumph Street Triple RS - 11.13L.
Ninja ZX10R - 14.3L

Re: Kawasaki unveils the all-new 2019 ZX6R 636! Now launched at 10.49L

Good pricing, I had expected Rs 10.99 L as the ex showroom price from Kawasaki. At these introductory prices (and I suspect post the upcoming price hike), Kawasaki undercuts the Street Triple RS and will grab a lot of the buyers who were waiting for the revised Daytona.

Second hand ZX6R bikes for Rs 7.5 to 8 lakhs in a few years time? Yes please!

10.49 is actually a good price IMO. It was anyways expected to be priced over the N1000 which retails at 9.99.

With 10R now in the 14L range, Kawasaki can easily increase the prices of 6R by a lakh after the intro prices are over.

Really bang-on pricing from Kawasaki. They have of late had a knack for pricing their products right in the sweet spot and the sales results show the proof of this. Barring a few Dead-on-arrivals like the 900RS and the Ninja 400, most of the Kawa bikes are finding Indian homes increasingly.

While it is nice to compare the Ninja 1000 and Striple RS to the 6R on pricing, for the sake of road-sanity I hope it stays at that on paper. Would be a shame if people considering the Ninja 1000/Striple jump to the 6R purely by the "dhoom-bike" effect or the pricing. The genres are chalk and cheese and I for one do not see any overlap between these products if the buyer has a very clear purpose in mind for the bike. From a sports tourer, to a fast naked street to a track tool - these bikes excel at what they are made to be and while any machine is a good all-rounder these days it'll be a shame to see majority of the 6Rs never visit a race-track during their lifetime in India. Such is life !

Re: Kawasaki unveils the all-new 2019 ZX6R 636! Now launched at 10.49L

Went to Kawasaki Hyderabad to check out the bike but they didn't have one yet.

Got the prices though, and it costs 12.94 Lakhs on-road, whereas the Ninja 1000 costs 11.76 Lakhs on-road. The 50k difference in ex-Showroom prices has lead to a 1.2 lakh difference in on-road prices due to different tax slabs.

Waiting for a test ride - will post thoughts once they provide me one.

Looks lovely (in my eyes at least), I am sure the ones who have bought these bikes will have a blast!

Any idea how much Kawasaki India is charging for the Rear Right side foot peg, rear seat and rear left side foot rest assembly?

Cheers!

Re: Kawasaki unveils the all-new 2019 ZX6R 636! Now launched at 10.49L

Had gone to Kawa mumbai a couple of weeks back to drop off the 650 for a busted fork seal repair. Coincidentally, the ZX6 test ride bike was available and I thought since I am anyways geared up so why not !

Below is a small summary of my 30 odd minutes spent riding it around the Western express highway (mix of open stretches and traffic infestation)

What I liked:
1. Ergos are not as committed as the 10R or even the daytona. Makes the bike easier to live with outside the race track.
2. Phenomenal Quickshifter on this one. It outclasses the one on the 10R by miles. Probably the best QS I have sampled on a bike. Period.
3. Suspension was very nicely set-up for a stock bike. I weigh in the mid-80s and It felt supple on the road without seeming too soft in the corners. Will definitely have to be set-up for the track though. Works just fine on the road. Ground clearance wasnt an issue either.
4. The bike definitely carries the Ninja DNA. The engine is a gem. It revs up super quick and with the nimbleness of the chassis it was a hoot to ride around. I havent had this much fun on a bike riding around the city. Honestly i was grinning ear to ear revving it nicely through the range coupled with her agility. Really good fun this bike is.
5. The test-ride bike had an Akrapovic on it. Sounded heavenly. Must get accessory for those contemplating picking up this bike.
6. The throttle response is nice & crisp and the brakes were pretty decent too. I would still recommend an upgrade to EBC pads though once bought.
7. The price is unbelievable for what this bike offers. Definitely a Must-Buy if you are looking for a 600 supersport (not like you have any other option in India).

What did not impress me:
1. Instrument cluster is very pedestrian for this day and age. The fact that it looks like the same unit as on the tourers (Ninja 1000 and 650) kills the feeling of being on a supersport. Its functional and legible for sure but doesn't excite.
2. The bike doesnt feel as sharp-edged as the Daytona R. I am sure around a track, the same rider will go faster on the Daytona R but then the 6R felt more comfortable to live with in the urban environment to me. If you are looking for an out-and-out track weapon I would still recommend getting a used Daytona 675R.
3. As expected, you will need to pay extra to get a pillion seat and pegs. Not that I recommend the pillion seating on these bikes to anyone but just incase.....
4. The front looks quite oddball to me thanks to that Ninja 400 nose. And thanks to the fact that the rear is a straight rip-off of the 10R I wonder if Kawasaki refused to pay their designers on this project and left it to some intern. Dont even get me started on that ugly looking stock muffler.

I must again hand it to Kawasaki on their pricing strategy. With the demise of the Daytona, the 6R is basically competing with the brilliant Street Triple RS on one end and (surprisingly?) with the Ninja 1000 on the other (dont ask me how ). If I did not have the 10R already in my garage, I would have happily put the money down on the 6R. It IS that much fun !!!
