Benelli TRK 502X caught testing in India. Edit: Launched @ 5 lakhs

The Benelli TRK 502X adventure bike has been spotted testing in India for the first time, which suggests that it could be launched sometime in the near future.

I wonder what took them so long and longer now!
I hope they can enthuse some confidence in buyers who are pained by the dismal sales and after market support in many many companies. UM, Benelli, Hyosung- to name a few.
It may be the right product to sell for a pan India ride but, the morale of the buyers wrt to this Brand is actually low low low.

True. I also wonder how this bike will fare, against the next RE launch, the Himalayan 650? With an expected price of RS 4/4.5 lac it is dead on arrival post the RE twins pricing. I am not sure they can price this CBU lower, considering taxes and duties.

Hope they price it right - because at 213kgs wet - this bike is just as heavy as a VStrom 650 or a Versys 650, however with the smaller engine producing only about 40% of the power compared to the 650s.

And like the above post - a Himalayan 650 could be a direct rival in terms of specs.

re: Benelli TRK 502X caught testing in India. Edit: Launched @ 5 lakhs

The problem with Benelli is that it just does not feel like a quality product. I rode one of their middle weight offerings at the time when they entered the country and it felt like a built to a price kind of a product. The switch gear lacked that quality tactile feel and felt cheap, had boring uninspiring ride quality and the engine vibe and harshness were pronounced. Basically I dint really enjoy being on one.
With so many quality players in the game now, vfm is the only thing they can bank upon.

It's not about their product lineups,it's their service network and maintenance cost which is the major hurdles. They have got only a single dealership/service in North India.Heck!! Even Triumph Motors had more than that. Also parts are not long lasting and cost a bomb(for instance brake pads cost Rs 4500 plus taxes). This is not a bike which you can get repaired at your local mechanic.Launching models after models won't do any good until they improve their after sales support.

Thanks. The TRK502X looks interesting and some reviews seem to be positive as well. Just need to see how much that Kerb weight affects the bike though. The bike looks really good overall. I think I'll go and check it out in person soon.

Re: Benelli TRK 502X caught testing in India. Edit: Launched @ 5 lakhs

When you have well taken care of, used Versys 650's under 30k mileage with a choice of accessories pre installed by owners available for between 5 and 5.5 Lakhs all across the country, I would expect only a very very brave and courageous soul to experiment with the Benelli TRK 502 whatever.

There is no comparison between this and a Jap set up.

Re: Benelli TRK 502X caught testing in India. Edit: Launched @ 5 lakhs

Too little, too late IMO. A good entry level 650 we have the RE twins, a great adventure tourer in the Versys 650. With an ex showroom price of RS 5.5 lac, on road would he about 6.3/6.5 , which is hardly cheaper than a 7.2 lac on road Versys. Plus consider the similar kerb weight and far power power/torque, this bike will need to be wringed to mantain highway speeds.

Re: Benelli TRK 502X caught testing in India. Edit: Launched @ 5 lakhs

I was under the impression that Benelli as a company was in trouble in India??

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...p-trouble.html (Case filed against DSK Benelli Chairman for cheating - Pune's Kulkarni family in deep trouble)

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...vir-group.html (Benelli divorces DSK; partners with Mahavir Group)

Is it advisable to plonk 6+ lakh on a Benelli in India today??

Interesting that an adventure tourer has a road going and off road variants! Can't recall seeing that on any other model! At least in India.
