At last it happened, was this long, really long wait, but at the end of it all it seems well worth it. Just this morning i came across one of RT's posts mentioning that the best part of owning a sbk is searching for one, i'm certain he would not hesitate to take his words back.

So finally i did manage to put some reasonable number of kms on the odo today, and it gave me that long awaited feel of the bike rather than the poser feel that i had extracted through the handful of short rides since i had gotten the motorcycle home.

I did try and keep an eye on the tacho on slightly empty stretches to discover how little i had extracted from the beast and even roughly estimating what was left was a step ahead of the impossible for a beginner like me. I was more or less trying to find the optimum rpm for shifting gears for sunday city riding, i doubt i'm going to be brave enough to take it anywhere on a weekday due to the traffic, and the highway rides are not happening till i KNOW i can handle the power available, and start to get my reflexes to perfection.

I'm going to be taking it slow with the Ace as i havent had any big bike experience on smaller 400/600 s, which actually would have been ideal. But, sadly its not a simple task to buy and sell superbikes in our country without losin a huge chunk of money irrespective of the initial purchasing cost.

Prime reason for starting this thread is to keep you guys posted on my riding experiences and more or less walk you through the learning process of the second part of my motorcycling life, rxg 135 being part one.

Before i forget, a token of thanks to everyone on the forum who helped me with something or the other in acquiring a bike.

The Thunderace is a crazy load of power for someone who has not got his body set with a 600 etc smaller bike earlier.
This bike is not as nimble to handle and is pretty heavy too, but comfy at the same time.
Take it easy, the beast is a neat bike. The roars out of my friends Blue and black thunderace's Yoshimura still gives me goose bumps.
I used to ride my CBR600 very well, don't have that much experience on the 1000s tho have riden my fair share, but, can't ride like some of my friends as they have had big bikes for years.

Congrats agian and few fast rides and bends will give you what you need to fire up this babe ! :)

So you finally start the much awaited thread. Congo again on your aquisition. Did Kartik send you the snaps he took. There is one nice pic with both your bikes in it. Hope to see you at meets with the bike :)

Manson ,congrats again .Remove the yamaha ,delta box sticker at the lower fairing ,it looks even more good .The tires have still thread left .Haaa .....the stepped seat is go for those long tours .The devil can will bring the wild thing to life .Wonderful .

Thanks for the inputs blueraven, apparently from the late 90 s write ups the Thundercace is a great handler equipped with the best brakes back then which even made their appearance on the R1, but i really doubt i can say much as of right now, and that 195 kgs of dry weight doesnt feel like much except when i hafta drag it into a parking spot.

g.t.o: trust me, i am going to take quite a while before i start to extract anything serious from it, this thing owns me man!!
and well talking about cops, just yesterday at marine drive i had a Police Qualis all over my back side, wonder what he was upto.

steeroid: i thought those were 'frame sliders' that everyone mentioned in the biking forum, or is 'crash bobbins' a different name. thanks for clearing it up for me. see i am already learning :)

dippy: the pictures posted are the ones kartik sent me, will post the one of the blade and the ace later in the evening.

black12rr: the rear tyre is really bad, its yet got thread, but has probbaly become like this old vegetable. RT suggests we (read he) try a burnout before i go in for a replacement, might just clear off the dead surface.
About the stickers, i actuyally thing that the white tail tends to pack off the bike as slightly bland, and removing the yam and deltabox graphics might haper it further. But since you mention it, will try photoshopping it sometime without the graphics.

Gonecase_01: great idea, i think RT could come up with that with the tons of technical knowledge he has. With the long wait i have learnt a thing or two as well, would be glad to put that down.

You are correct, any bike with a deltabox chasis handles well,
and yeah the bike did not feel heavy to ride at all when I had riden it, actually I was quite amazed when I had read online later that it was actually close to 200 kgs, but in tight traffic it felt a little heavy to handle, but then again I was used to a CBR600, which feels like a big CBZ unless we roll the throttle. When it comes to the power department, I have seen my friend keep up with R1s with his Thunderace, partly bcos the bike is very fast and partly because he was a better rider too.:)
Congrats again, I have been out of bikes for 3 years now, even sold my RD, hope to get back again buying one in few years when i have more time to give.

With bikes i think, its 80% rider, 20% bike. have watched this video of a zxr 400 kicking some serious liter class a** on track on youtube.

Anyways the bike needs to go in for a tune up and service soon enough, had topped it up with mobil1 last week, not sure if the little oil left in the bike was synythetic or mineral when i brought it home. lets see what the mech suggests.

Wow Manson!

Shes a big beauty.... Im glad that you are taking things easy and not going crazy unleashing a century and a half of horsepower!
If you ever need to really rip a bike, just borrow a ZZR400 or something :p
