It's been a month to the day since the 10 came home.
17xx kms clocked, including a 2 day ride to the beautiful Nilgiris.

Maybe initial Josh, but I do hope to do at-least half of that every month going forward. It is especially tough to keep the odo ticking on such beasts since I cannot use her every day.

That is a Kreiga US20 tail bag.

Closer to the 3K kms mark now. Been almost 3 months now.
Mine is probably the least modded 10R
Have the following after market parts on:
1. R and G Radiator guard
2. Frame sliders from Shogun racing
3. Swingarm spools from Shogun racing
4. Eazi Grip UK Tank Grips : Has made a pretty big difference in my comfort. I do not like the fact that it covers the nice lines of the graphics though.
5. MRA Windscreen: Best mod so far. Barely any wind blast now. Super screen.

aaaand that is it.

The 10 is fantastic! SO much power in stock trim. I cannot wrap my head around how this bike is when tuned etc. I have not even scratched the surface of her power reserve, SO much more on offer.

Hey, I wanted to ask this and you posted a relevant photo . Is the 10R happy drinking 91 RON fuel? How many times have you used high octane?

Belated congrats on the beast!

@therediner - While you wait for wolfy to answer your query, this is a related post from another owner of ZX10R.

The 10 leaves Bangalore with a belly full of Speed 99. Most days she comes back to Bangalore without having the need to fill anywhere else.

That said, I have filled smaller amounts of these other fuels (Speed, power, Xtra premium etc) just to limp back to Bangalore and I definitely feel the difference in terms of the way she idles and moves. From what I have experienced so far in my limited time and miles on the bike, she is happiest with Speed 99. Not too sad with Shell Power. Neither happy nor sad with other premium fuels when I switch to L Mode and limp back to Bangalore and not happy in any other scenarios.

One of the reasons I do not want to mod this bike for more power. My guess is she will get more finicky with her fuel requirements.

Cheers.

Where do you get Speed 99? The residency road petrol bunk is closed.

That bunk has moved near to Mekhri circle on Ballari road. I filled up Speed 97 there last week.

Oh. You mean Power 99!

You can try Proctane a few times. If you find the performance with Proctane to be acceptable, you can add it during 91 RON refills on highways.

I'll give it a shot. Octane boosters should be measured in some proportions right? Do you know what percentage per litre?

Do not use octane boosters. They may seem like a convenient way to increase the octane rating but eventually they will clog your injectors. Plus the so called increased octane rating is so minimal its pointless unless you run race gas concentrate.

An interesting fact is that higher the octane, slower the burn which means less power. That's why a bike feels much faster on regular fuel though coarser with increased vibrations.

Stick to 97 from a quality bunk and you would do just fine. In-fact for highway runs, if you cannot source 97, regular fuel but from a reputed bunk would also suffice. Hold the rpm's a little longer and dont drag the taller gears and the bike should run okay.

Thanks bigron.. I've heard this from the service centre folks too. Lots of bikes using boosters apparently have come in with clogged injectors within the 1000kms.
