Re: 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

I just did a quick comparo between the four Japanese litre class offerings based on the UK market.

Suzuki GSX R1000 - GBP 14,199
Kawasaki ZX10R - GBP 14,499
Yamaha R1 - GBP 16,947
Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade - GBP 19,999
Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP - GBP 23,499

The base version of the 2020 Blade is priced at a significant premium over its Japanese counterparts and matches the pricing of the more exotic Ducati V4. Honda will argue that the changes to the Blade are really sweeping and the nature of the bike has completely changed from the past and that its competitors offerings are a few years old. That is true but it remains to be seen how Honda India positions this. They are pushing for a big Big Wing dealer expansion and they need to sell motorcycles for this to be profitable for them and the dealers, more so for the latter.

Re: 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

As good an iteration this CBR may be, it does not command the price Honda is asking.

The Fireblade line is a mass market product that has its own set of followers who swear by the Big Red. All those people are now going to be looking at something else as their next ride.

The premium that Honda is asking for the SP, I do not see alot of people if any picking this up over the Panigale v4 or the BMW S1000RR. And those are proper exotics.

Clearly Honda marketing people know something about the future of the exotic motorcycle market we dont.

Re: 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

It is that time of the year again for Fast Bike Magazines annual Ultimate Sports Bike test of the best litre class and some near litre class rivals. Some of the numbers from the Blade were good in isolation. What remains to be seen is how the Honda puts it together on the track and whether it can take on the S1000RR and the bigger capacity rivals. We will have to wait for the final test and results to come out for that.

Definitely accurate pricing, BMW and Ducati dealers are running their hands with glee. Doubt there'll be many sales here.

A certain someone on display at the Bangalore Big Wing. Looks gorgeous. As its a CBU, no front plate holder, tough times again explaining it to cops.

I like this edition of Fireblade. Seen a few circling the mountain roads near where I live.

But the pricing is insane. Here in JDM, the SP version goes for around JPY 30L (close to 20L INR!). We have to pay double that, for the STD version?

Makes one wonder if Honda intends to sell many of these. What a strategy!

Re: 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

I got a chance to take a closer look at this amazing machine. The attention to detail is fantastic. The paint job is world class and those headlights are a thing of beauty. This is a bike that is dripping in quality. Too bad it costs Rs 43L on road.

Re: 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

In Bangalore the black one on display was sold at the Ex-Showroom price. Guess it was the only one they had and wanted to get rid of it before it became a mere display piece, it still is expensive per me.
