re: The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine

So after looking at the bike and hearing the engine note I have come to the conclusion* that this is not a forced-induction engine, it is a NA one, the capacity of which will be revealed on the 5th.

*Yes I know, its a half-baked conclusion

re: The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine

It would be awesome if they released one in the original and the only factory unrestricted copper/silver edition.

Bring it here already Suzuki, you are almost a decade late to the party.

They are definitely late to the party, but seem to be coming in with a heavily loaded gun aimed at the competition

From the speedo console, you can make out the following:

a) 10 level of traction control
b) 10 level of wheelie control
c) Engine Braking (wonder how this works)
d) Different Quick shifter modes (again needs to be seen what the different settings do)
e) Multiple power modes
f) Lean angle indicator (no need to check the tyre contact batch anymore after taking some corners )
g) Ambient temperature reading

From the images of the bike itself:

a) Looks leaner and sharper. Has definitely gone on a diet
b) Bigger clutch cover
c) Smaller tank with some texture area around the frame to grip the bike better with your legs?
d) Twin Barrel exhaust on each side?
e) New mirror design
f) New tail light design and maybe a smaller rear seat?
g) Seat cowl with padding
h) LED headlight with DRL
i) Brembo calipers (but don't think would be top of the line model)
j) Both Levers can be adjusted for length and reach?
k)New multi spoke alloy wheel design

And the main would be how much power will the 1440 cc unit produce? 200 whp?

Is it only me or does anybody else get the feeling this looks closer to the original blackbird especially in the black shade. The Hayabusa originally had decimated the Blackbird.

Not saying that i don't like this design, but for us, back then the bulbous nose was all about aerodynamics.

re: The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine

Same cubic capacity (1340cc)
No forced induction

Seems to be a maruti - style "new-gen" launch with chrome strip / cosmetic changes.

re: The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine

Details from the launch video is as below:

a) Suzuki has been testing turbocharged 4 cylinder and six cylinder versions in the past 10 years and believe the current engine architecture offers the best balance of power and reliability

b) Hence, they just worked upon the current engine to strengthen the internals for better long term reliability

c) The biggest drawback on Gen 3 would be that it produces less power and torque over Gen 2 but offers better low end and mid range especially post 5k rpm.

d) Handle is now 12 mm closer to the rider for better maneuverability and handling.

e) The TFT screen on the dash will now show acceleration and front and back braking force among other information

f) On the pricing and availability it will be available in the UK by end of March at GBP 16,499 which is approximately 16.5 lacs in India

Simply brilliant. Thanks for that share!

The open mouthed wide eyed little boy in every man is brought out by the Busa. And to think that in all these years this is only the 3rd generation.

A lesson in that for others.

Cheers, Doc

I noticed this on their global website:

The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine-20210205_152236.jpg

Could it mean that Suzuki's already homologated the new Busa for India ?

re: The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa unveiled with a 1,340 cc engine

What utter disappointment!
Suzuki, you just had 13 years to get this right.

Which manufacturer actually updates a motorcycle after a decade and gives less bhp. And all this nonsense of increasing the lower rpm power curve. I would just swap out the rear sprocket and add some teeth if I wanted to do that, Suzuki!.

Not even VVT from the new Gixxer.
It looks slightly tweaked and refreshed visually and now has all the electronic wizardry. Maybe swapping the cans, removing the cat, tuning the ecu wiuld make this good, who knows.
However, I am so disappointed right now, I am just going to go and hug my Gen 2 and go for a ride. It appears she and I will stick together for another decade.

Mods/op, kindly change the title of the thread to reflect the current scenario.
