The Street Triple R is expected to be positioned below the recently launched Street Triple RS. It features a digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer and 3 riding modes.

The Street Triple R is powered by a 765cc, 3-cylinder engine that produces 116 BHP @ 12,000 rpm and 77 Nm @ 9,400 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-assist clutch.

The bike features 41 mm Showa upside down fork suspension at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. It comes with twin 310 mm disc brakes at the front and a 220 mm disc brake at the rear as well as dual-channel ABS.

Re: Rumour: Triumph Street Triple R to be launched in June 2020

What are the differences then between this and the S model and what will happen to that, will it get discontinued or there will be three models?

The S has been discontinued in India. Internationally there were always three models. Now the S is an A2 model exclusively and has no potential sales in India. The difference between the R and the RS is:

1) Lack of TFT
2) Slightly cheaper brakes and suspension
3) Lack of belly pan
4) Lower power with a different power and torque curve (if this follows the same philosophy as the outgoing model)
5) Different side View mirrors
6) 3 vs 5(?) ride modes
7) Different Colours

As per an NDTV report, the base 'S' is ruled out for India this time around.

R and RS versions come with a 765cc triple engine which produces 118ps in the RS and 123ps in the RS. Whereas the S is mated to the 660cc engine which is only available in a restricted 47.6ps format for A2 license compliance.

R also get better spec components than the S (though not as good as the RS ofcourse) like Showa SFF supension, fully adjustable at both ends, Brembo brakes instead of Nissin, slipper clutch, quick shifter etc.

Re: 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS. Edit: Now launched at 11.13 lakhs.

Triumph Street Triple R India Launch Confirmed.

Triumph Motorcycles India will launch the mid-spec variant of the Street Triple family, Street Triple R in June 2020.

Shoeb Farooq, Business Head, Triumph Motorcycles India told We are planning to introduce the R variant in India in June. It's a little shift in our strategy also, because earlier we used to have the Street Triple RS and the S, for the starting price point. But I don't think this segment is really looking for an entry price point. It's looking for that performance-value relationship, where I think with the R and RS, we will be much better placed.

Oh Triumph, why do you do this? First time around, only the base Street Triple was sold here. Then with the 765 they got the top end first, then the entry level and skipped the middle spec R altogether. Now they changed their line up totally making the entry level pointless for non-EU markets and brought the R with downgraded specs that EU , North American and Aus/NZ customers will hate because they no longer get the TFT dash and the bar end mirrors. There are also those unhappy over the red subframe going to the R instead of the RS (I'm happy with the silver subframe over the red).

I for one like the old analogue tacho with LCD display more than the TFT and I prefer the regular mirrors over bar end types. Maybe Triumph should let buyers customize the easily swap parts, because for me, the 765 RS with R's dash and mirror is the most preferred combination.

LED dash is the way of the future for most manufacturers - so that is a unreasonable idea. Mirrors are easily swappable - even your Local triumph dealer will happily sell you a pair.

I believe the RS is going to see an imminent price hike soon. My sense is they'll try to price the 2020 R a little below the 2019 RS and the 2020 RS a little above. Personally I can't see the difference between the two being more than 1 - 1.2 lakh MAX (on road).

The expected extent of the price hike for the 2020 RS is Rs 50,000. That should provide to be a sufficient gap from the incoming base R which should fall below the old RS, along the lines of what Axe77 said.

The current pre hike price of the 2020 Street Triple RS is Rs 14.7 L on road in Kerala. That is really steep!

Good lord that is expensive! I got my RS just after the launch in December 2017 for exact 12 L on road (UP registration). Honestly, it is a great bike and i love it to bits but i do not see it worth 15 L (almost!!). My guess is that the Delhi price before discounts would be around 13.8-14 as well. If i was in the market today, i would think twice before getting the RS.

I maybe in the minority here but i love the new dash. There's nothing like seeing the rev needle bounce of the red line. The new RS's dash makes it super difficult to see the revvs

You're definitely not alone. I know others also who love that style of dash, and I can understand why.

Personally having owned the 765 S with this dash and the Tiger with the TFT, I still prefer the TFT. But can definitely relate to the opposite opinion too. Something raw and classic about it.

Re: Rumour: Triumph Street Triple R to be launched in June 2020

It's going to be interesting for sure. The time for my down payment is rapidly approaching and now there are three bikes in the mix Z900 and two Striples. Wish the test rides were available in Bangalore. No idea which way I'll go in the end.

Right now I'm questioning the point of a Striple R in India. Wouldn't the RS be more desirable to the large majority of potential customers? How price sensitive would someone be who is willing to spend 10-15 Lakhs on a bike? Wouldn't a typical shopper find a bike they like and just work towards buying it?
