Triumph Motorcycles has launched a teaser of an all-new faired Speed Triple 1200 RR design concept that may be an upcoming production-spec superbike.











The Speed Triple 1200 RR appears to have taken inspiration from the pre-existing Speed Triple 1200 RS which was launched earlier in 2021.

Powering the Speed Triple 1200 RS is a new 1160cc, inline-triple that makes 180hp at 10,750rpm and 125Nm at 9,000rpm. Link (2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS teased. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.95 lakh)

This will be great! Some wind protection as well to achieve those crazy speeds. Will it be costlier?

Going by how quickly Triumph bring its bikes to India, I suppose we can expect this in q1 2022.

Some report said that it could be priced close to the RS, with a lower state of tune(150 bhp?). The riding position on this is going to be more like a caferacer, so could have changes to the suspension and further tweak to the rider’s triangle.

BTW, it seems Triumph has silently hiked the price of the Speed Triple 1200 RS by Rs 1 lakh, and it now costs Rs 17.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

They indeed have. The prices of the entire range are up by 50k to 100k. BTW, saw the bike in person last week when I had gone to pick up my bike- it is something special for sure- but not special enough to command that kind of money.

Yes, OTR price being over 20 is really big money. But the way things are moving everything that gets imported will just get more expensive.

But a lot of reviewers felt that the front end of this bike is one of the best they have tried. Its just that the slow TFT display and the keyless system that creates doubt in the mind. Imagine the bike or worst the fuel cap not detecting the key.

Happened to see the Speed Triple in person. The TFT display is not in line of sight when sitting in the actual riding position. Triumph may not have put in much work into the TFT thinking who would be brave enough to bother looking at it when going at unmentionable speeds.

It is a “Speed” Triple after all.

If this bike (RR) is priced lower than the Speed Triple RS, it could be an interesting proposition. There are those who don’t require 170 HP+ on a motorcycle, if it means a lower price point.

This could be a perfect middle ground between the Street Triple RS and the Speed Triple RS.

I assume that Triumph will keep the same engine as the Speed RS and hence, this is going to be even more expensive than the bike that it will be based on. So, 18.95 or 19.5 L ex showroom for this beauty is probably what Triumph India will price it at. This might appear outrageous to us but I wouldnt be surprised at all if (and when!) it happens.

Looks more like the Paul Smart Ducati with that oversized front fairings. But 20 lacs for this is a lot of money. I used to poke fun at Ducati / Aprilia, but now Triumph has also joined the game.

This one is going to be more than 20 ex showroom when it lands in India. Got more carbon fibre bits then the RS and a Ohlins electronic semi active suspension. Same power and torque though and will retail in UK at £17,950.

Really like how it looks though in the only two colours offered red and white. A modern cafe racer

No posts on this thread after Triumph's big unveil? It looks like Im not the only one disappointed by the production version of the RR. Somehow Triumph managed to make the final version far uglier than what the tempting teasers promised! Usually, it is the other way round. The final version is supposed to be far better than what we expect from the little glimpses in the trailers.

That headlight area looks C H E A P to my eyes. I had my hopes high for an elegant cafe racer but this is tacky and screams aftermarket.

The pricing in India is going to be through the roof. Based on the prices of the naked 1200 RS and the 1200 RR, below is my guess of the what it will cost in India.
Speed Triple RS - GBP 15,500 / INR 17.95 L ex showroom
Speed Triple RR - GBP 17,950 / [b]INR 20.99 L ex showroom

At above 25 L on road in many states, I really dont see a market for this in India.

Also, in the comments section, popular motorcycle reviewer, The Missenden Flyer, pointed out Triumph's double speak regarding the 1200 platform. Its nice to see these motorcyclist reviewers / youtubers, calling out manufacturers when they can clearly see such examples of misguiding the market.

That is why chances are high it might not come to India at all. Plus if you want the one in Red that would be £ 18,200. Only way Triumph can look at selling this in good numbers in India is if the India and UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) helps them in bringing the cost down considerably.
