Honda's new touring era - The NT1100

Honda Motorcycles EU just teased the NT1100 - Reveal on 21.10.21

Looks like the Africa Twin with a new fairing, sportier road oriented 17" wheels and well kitted with touring accessories.

Extensive wind protection, and just look at that lovely pillion backrest:

17" wheels, the Africa Twin's skid plate and low exhaust for accommodating panniers. Ground clearance doesn't look particularly high, but then this is laden

Looks very GS like with the bulky top fairing and panniers

Overall looks to be an easy going two-up tourer straight outta the dealership. Hope it's priced sufficiently away from the AT. Should be pretty straight forward to bring to India

re: Honda's new touring era - The NT1100

Every time Honda launches super bikes(please note: its only about super bikes), we will start praising it's beauty, quality, refinement, smoothness, vibration less motion, reliability, lesser maintenance costs and predict it's price wishing it to be within our reach. The discussion reaches 4th or 5th page and then they launch the bike with sky high price. Then we start our crib about the way they disappoint us every time.

This has become a trend with all honda super bikes. They launched cb 500. I was dreaming to own one almost 1-2 years prior to its launch. As soon I got to know about its launch, I decided to sell my poor Dominar and purchase cb500. But, as soon as it was launched, got disappointed with its sky high price and thereafter lived happily with my Dominar. Then, they launched cb650. Story repeated. Now comes NT1100. I am pretty sure, we will be disappointed with Honda pricing strategy even now. And this reflects in their sales numbers as well. So far I have not been able to see even one single cb500 so far after its launch outside of the showroom within Bangalore.

Therefore, personally, I have stopped dreaming of Honda super bikes. If at all, the pricing is drastically reduced, I may reconsider to purchase one. But I have absolutely no hope.

Therefore, now, all my happiness and interest lies in only looking at the newly launched Honda super bikes and writing about their greed on money in TBHP threads

Re: Honda's new touring era - The NT1100

Looks like a love child of Versys 1000 and Goldwing.

Probably a direct competition to the Versys 1000 if than the Tiger or GS.

If launched in India, I think it would hardly find any buyer, given the excellent pricing strategy of Honda India, pun intended.

More like a scooter face on the Africa Twin body, at least to my eyes.

It looks like a replacement for the void left by the cancellation of the ST1300. The ST was a mighty good tourer. I had been thinking of upgrading from a VFR to a ST1300. When there was talk about cancellation and low volumes, I decided to go with a smaller NC700.
