Re: One bike to tame them all! | Part - II | My Triumph Tiger Sport 660. Edit: 15,000 kms up!

A very comprehensive reply saar. Thanks!

The Himmie 411 will do. It will do very well. In fact, it will probably take me a long time to match its potential.
Nice! If I had a 450 I'd take it to the track in a heartbeat just because of that lovely front and measured handling, with the CEAT Radials, rather than think like I did with the 411. The insufficient grip on the stock knobbies added on to the wallowing in the 411.

Didn't get the exact reference.
Sorry not your mistake! I've been listening to many podcasts lately about motorcycling and it got jumbled up. Its in this the one about 2023 ADVs - 22:15

On a lighter note, the one huge advantage of an ADV - you go wide, just stand up and sail through. I went wide on one of the corners, stood up, went over the grass, possibly came out faster than the chap in front of me.
This was what he exactly described on that episode! Thanks for making it so lucid. But wouldnt you end up sliding on the grass?

Got the reference now!

At the risk of running wide on the purpose of this thread (sorry Sujai) I'll try & make this my last response here.
I was lucky that I didn't have to find out how slippery the grass might've been haha. I purely meant it in jest. Not something practice on a race track

My aim is to be a better, self-aware and more responsible rider. Attending a school by itself, isn't the means to achieve that. Like every learning in life, you need to continually retrospect and introspect. If you don't practice what you've learnt, there's zero purpose to the learning itself, except in allowing one to participate in highly intellectual conversations as a "know-it-all" haha!
I thoroughly enjoyed the reports of these three brave "musketeers" on completing the CSS road course training as a fellow rider from across the world.

Investing in one's own skills to improve riding techniques is perhaps the best thing that a passionate rider can ever do, and this is an endeavor that must never stop, no matter how many years one has been riding. There is always room to improve skills and techniques and practice them over and over, and then over again. The time, money and effort is repaid many times over, and in an enduring manner.

Bravo!

The California Superbike School Experience

So as mentioned in the earlier posts, I completed CSS L1 to L3 last weekend at MMRT, Chennai - along with BHPians deepfreak15, shyamg28 and Narula123 as well.

Deepak brought his KTM RC 390, Shyam did it on the Suzuki VStrom 650 and Varun on his Kawasaki ZX10R.
It was indeed a worthy experience attending CSS. And cheers to all of you for spotting me in the crowd thanks to the TBhp tee (Merch works!)
I was so happy to see the sports tourers and ADVs on track because they bust some solid myths. Was happy seeing you chaps get those big upright bikes hustling around the track. CSS is about riding better and safer with speed as a byproduct. Its not a racing school and they made it amply clear to all of us.
What stood out for me at CSS vs other schools I have been to are the quality of coaching, the pedagogy, the science behind the drills and the caliber of the coaches. That said, almost all riding/racing schools in India are good and one must go and do atleast a basic level with any of them to bring about tangible benefits to everyday riding.
It was an intense set of 3 days but worth every minute despite the dehydration and sore legs.
For me personally, I rode at 50-70% of my pace like the coach instructed so that I could focus on practicing the drills and it really worked. I came out at the end of day 3 more confident in my abilities and those of my motorcycle.
The itch to upgrade has evaporated for now because there is still a lot left in the 10R for me to exploit (if I ever manage to).
My only regret is that I should have done this sooner! God willing, will go back for Level4 soon.

Wow, I assume the Kolar route was taken since started from North? How was the road condition and how did Octavia handle it. I have a trip to Chennai coming up on Saturday and I will be driving my Jetta with four up, so the concern.

Hey KK, Long time

Sorry I missed to reply to this. Yes we took the Kolar route and except for some deviations - there was nothing major that could pose a challenge to the Octavia.

Did you already undertake this trip? How did it go?
