The 1098 is a cheaper SBK from Ducati ($16,000 in US). Just imagine the price of 1098R in India if it is available. The price in US is $40,000.

Interesting move.Wonder if it'll work out.
OT:From the link..
Italian cult bike maker Ducati's search for an Indian partner may have ended with TVS Motors co. Unconfirmed reports suggest the two are teaming up, but a TVS spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. Till some months back, Ducatti was in talks with Bajaj Auto for a possible Alliance.

Ducati,and then Ducatti.

It seems, like politics, 'Infernal Combustion' too makes strange bedfellows! I wish them luck. Both companies have an enviable reputation so I guess it's just a mating of visions that time will test.
Will we be seeing desmo Fieros and Samurai (if that's their 4-stroke)?

Ducati is going to launch five superbikes in India on May 7. Each bike will have engine more than 800cc and will cost around 10 Lakh. Ducati’s Global Chief Executive Gabriel Deltorchio will be there at the launch event in Delhi.

Ducati has a JV with Kinetic Motors to manufacture auto components here. World’s second-largest two-wheeler market - India, has caught the attention of the legendary bike-makers like Harley Davidson & Triumph.

Get ready for the exciting times in the two-Wheeler industry in India !!

brianbandra: I'm in the same boat, and of the same philosophy, Sir.
Very temperamental machines, so a Ducati man tells me. Never know how she'll wake. Kinky but cool- my reading.

Supposed to take some skill in being able to ride a Ducati well. Not just ride it,but ride it really well,if you will.

Somehow I've no hesitation in believing that.
Cantankerous, termagant of a beast, but very lovable.

Absolutely,Rajeev. I have a friend who's a hardcore Ducati rider. Guy swears by the way the machine's built. Used to own 2 of them at any given time. Apparently, some people tend to find the seating a little uncomfortable, after being used to a more chin-up seating style most bikes have.

I have ridden a Duke- a 600 Monster in lime green, with the owner riding pillion, but it was a short spin in Bangalore's thickest traffic, and therefore not enjoyable. Also it was 3-4 years ago so I can't even pin-down my first reaction. I recall though finding the steering heavy but think it was due to an under-inflated front tyre.
