Devarishi,

You got it all mixed up, Yamaha was the first to introduce 5 valves in their Genesis engine, it was first used in the 1985 FZ-750 which I almost bought, Eddie Lawson won the Daytona 200 on it, in 1987, the same engine went to the limited edition FZR 750 which had all aluminum delta box frame and FAI, an industry first of RAM air intake, that actually was the first bike I bought in US, quite a step up from Yamaha RD-350B which I had in India. Honda's tech innovation in bike world are far too many, from VTEC in the 70s to FI in the early 90s to single crank V5 engine to anti dive front suspension, upside down forks, the list just goes on, not to mention their various bhp benchmarks and top speed spots in race track. Finances don't win title, Yamaha being part of the Sumitomo group has equal if not better financial clout as compared to Honda, it is raw talent and determination that wins races, reason why Senna/Honda dominated F-I, remember, Honda unlike Yamaha participates in 2 wheeled and 4 wheeled racing. Read Sochihiro Honda's life story and you will know why Honda is what it is now.

rOaD AsSaSin/Driven/Sunny: stick with the topic. Or else take it to the PM's. Simple forum etiquette people.

just saw the kawker 14R at the Toronto Motorcycle show.

Boy it looks different and better than the busa.

The Star of the show was definitely the Ducati 999R.

R1 or Fireblade dont even come halfway when it comes to fit and finish.

sat on both and the feel obviously tells. The Japs sure know how to cut the costs.

btw the zx-14's top whack might be higher than the Hayabusa but according the Motorcyclist Magazines recent drag strip comparison shows that its actually not that quicker in the quarter mile drag! There's one thing i noticed after sitting on the ZX-14 is that its incredibly light!

Jumping into the argument ..the diff btwn Honda ,yamaha ,suzuki ,kawasaki are simple .

Honda and yamaha have their parts manufactured by their sister companies .ex paioli ,showa . These companies specialise in their respective fields and thats where the big difference is . Ducati uses a combination of paioli ,showa ,slipper clutches ,regina chains etc . The companies specialise in races and some of them are italian ,now in the hands of japs like yamaha and honda .

Kawasaki and suzuki use generic parts which in my opinion would not do well enough in the races . Build quality would be on par with a pulsar where you get good figures ,but in driveability would no where match the specs on the sheets .

Finally , Ducati was the only machine which was tested against an F-16 and it was found to be faster than the F-16 while take off .

also to add that hayabusa and Ninja 14R are much much more powerful but their speed has been limited according to a mutual consent between the makers to stop the top speed fights.

Ducati and MV agusta have bikes which are much more powerful than these two though.
