Please advise on a Family Car

Hello to all Team BHP'ans!

For quite some time, I am looking to buy a good family car. Purpose is just that - going out on long drives (including home town) and able to carry all my family members. Had a typical 8 seater with good boot space in mind. Due to budgetery constraints or other reasons, I've been scouting pre-owned/used/second-hand car market.

My requirement to use this is only for long drives. I am presuming average monthly use will be 500-700 km. Like, during regluar weekends, it may clock just 100-150kms per week but occassionally (once in quarter) it may clock 1000-1500km in a streatch. I use most trusted Alto (and Fiero) for daily commute.

In addition to Innova, I'm also exploring options for Tavera and a Scorpio. But haven't come across these so far in pre-owned categories (reason may be, I did not try much with dealers, have been looking only from individuals).

I've recently come across couple of Innova deals.
A. 2.0 V, Petrol. Feb 2006 model, 40K mileage. Possible deal - 6.5L
B. 2.5 G, Diesel. Jun 2005 model, 32K mileage. Possible deal - 6.9L

Please could you suggest:
1. Should I be going for a diesel or Petrol version of MUV?
2. Which is best in all aspects for the above requirement (economy, space, comfort - in that order) between Innova, Tavera and Scorpio?
3. Out of the above 2 deals of Innova, which sounds better? To be frank, Personally I preferred Petrol one because it's very well maintained and also have some soft corner on petrol vehicles. But I don't think I've good wisdom to conclude on this.

please experts, help me out.

TIA.

Cheers,
KK
