Pics from Eastern Freeway drive to SoBo: 7th July 2013: Set 1/4
In front of Hiranandani school was the get-together point. Superbee and Swapszone got delayed and decided to join directly at Eastern Freeway entry.

The rest (8 cars) started at 10am from Powai.

At Pizza Hut junction. Karan's BMW, Santosh's BMW, Harishv's Corolla, Siddarthdev's Vento, sa_kiran's City, Mohan Mathew's Swift. Me at 7th position. Jignesh's WagonR was behind me.

Pulled over next to a fuel-bunk while couple of cars tanked up.

sa_kiran apparently took a different route. Shome joined directly at the entry.
Below the flag, you can see the Shivaji Maharaj statue which is the landmark for the starting point of the Eastern Freeway's currently open section.


10:55AM -> Took a right at the roundabout and the ramp for the freeway is right ahead.


Immediately after entering the Freeway, we hit the famous tunnel.


Superbee's FFE Swift (not in the pic) sounded amazing in the tunnel!


Beautiful day for a drive. Blue sky and white clouds.




Hard to believe this scene is from Mumbai.


Apparently its the BPT road from Sewree to Mahul.

They do create blind curves.

11:05am -> We reached the end of the Freeway.

Loved this meet. Sorry to join in late, missed the drive with all you guys, though it was fun driving on the new freeway. It was my son's first TBHP Meet and he enjoyed it the most. Wifey also enjoyed this one, after missing a few drives in the past few months.

Nice pics and I guess you should have also written about how water was getting collected on the Freeway in atleast 2 places. Please drive carefully and slowly as the car skids if it hits a patch of standing water.

The Blind Curves on the Freeway are simply amazing.

The Road surface has already started deteriorating :(

A quick regrouping at the end of the Eastern Freeway.


And we started again. This time directly to NCPA. No more halts.


Been ages since I have been to this area.

11:20AM -> Reached NCPA.


Esma1981 and Raj were already there waiting for us.


Parking was not a problem. The black Swift was Shome's and the silver All New Honda City belongs to Esma1981.

12:15pm -> We decided to walk to a nearby hotel rather than driving.


Five minutes walk and we reached 'Status'.


Initially we put together some 6-7 tables horizontally. Not sure if it was against vastu or something, but the hotel staff objected to that arrangement and converted it to 2 vertical rows.

12 BHPians. 4 with family. Good turnout for a mini-meet! Good weather. Good discussions and fantastic drive on the Eastern Freeway! Overall a very good meet!! Had fun!

PS: Please share other photos. Especially looking forward to the 320 + 328i photo-shoot snaps.

Well i<3turbo is banned so i will help him with uploading the pics. I was riding shotgun with him sorry if i didnt say hi. It was my first meet. Nice to see the enthusiasm. Great pics sdp!
Sad but true some of you missed i<3turbo's massive smokeshow!

Thanks to Karan for the idea of the Eastern Freeway Drive. SDP and Jignesh for another successful meet. So many discussions about car specs and mods, I seriously have a lot to learn. Hope I can join in for future meets :)

Sorry Guys had to miss this one. We won the best modified jeep and also 4th place at the MGE trophy championship, so was offroading on sunday to prepare for the finals. Seeing the pictures it sure looks like you'll had fun and hope to be there for the next one. Cheers guys..:)

Though I too did a dash on the freeway yesterday itself, but later in the day. I was there around 3:30, and was looking around to see if I see any of you around.

It would have been an awesome experience to be with you guys, next time maybe. :)

I cursed myself for having to give this meet a miss after looking at the pics. Although I did enjoy my Sunday but it could never have given me the high which I could have got had I attended the drive cum meet.

Sanjay - you have become a sort of a narrator of the events with your photography, need to take some tips from you.

One question - After the free run on the freeway, did you encounter any traffic enroute to NCPA?

No. Absolutely no traffic anywhere. As yesterday was a Sunday, it was a pleasure to drive on SoBo roads. We were also lucky to get free parking near NCPA & all the cars in our convoy managed to park next to eachother.
