Team-BHP - The MH Mega Meet 2015 - Date finalised, 18th January 2015

Well it's time that we start planning for another MH Mega Meet.

The last years Mega Meet was a huge one with 40 Cars and 72 people attending.

We followed it up with another Mega Monsoon Drive with 35 cars but 84 people attending.

So I guess it's time for another such occasion when we TBHPians come together. We are planning for a place, a more fun place!
But first we need to decide a date.
So I'm putting up a poll for dates. Please vote.

18th January
25th January
1st February
8th February

I was suggesting 25th January, as 26th January is a holiday and we can rest after a long drive.
But most suggested it being a long weekend, many may not be available. So please vote so that we can have maximum attendance.

To avoid minimal attendance, would suggest 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks later from the extended weekend. My suggestions for the dates are
1) 11th Jan
2) 25th Jan
3) 8th Feb

If the drive is towards beach then definitely in Jan and if towards hills then Feb would be my suggestion.

So looks like we may have to look at February as dates Coz mostly we are looking to go towards Wai/Panchgani/Mahabaleshwar.

Latentpotential has suggested a Vintage Cars Museum in Pune. That is an option that we can look at.

Any date, provided on a weekend would do for most. Yes Jan 25 looks dicey since it being a long holiday there could be separate plans by many members.

Just my pennyworth - Wai, Panchagani & Mahabaleswar are places, I am sure most of the members must have visited. How about a drive till Ganapati Pule and spread the meet over two days or even if required over 3 days.

Just a suggestion if it is of everyone's liking.

We should try to keep the distance in mind since many will come along with wife and kids. I feel around 200 kms, max 250 kms one way should be the limit. Last time, Pawna was pretty much within approachable limits.

And Feb sounds too far. Lets try to do this in Jan, weather would be more pleasant.

Have been eagerly waiting for this one! Thank you Swaps for the inception of this thread!!
Here are my 2 bits about the meet:
1. 25th Jan seems the best option to me, since we are looking at a longer drive this time; 26th being a holiday will allow people to get adequate rest after the drive!
2. A trip for 1-2 days seems like a long shot and I'm not sure how many of us would agree to it. I'm don't!
3. Mahabaleshwar is a good option - nice drive and plenty of food options.
4. Nashik would also be a good option according to me.
5. On NH-8 we can do Dahanu/Bordi or Jawahar (although I'm not sure of food options at Jawahar)
6. If we're looking for a longer drive then we can go upto Daman - loads of awesome food options!

Lets keep the drive within 200 kms radius of Mumbai. That would mean a drive time of around 3-3.5 hours one way. Suitable for most. Also, NH8 destinations would be a really long drive for the Pune folks. So lets choose one of the destinations on NH4 or close to Mumbai-Pune expressway.

Anything on NH4 and NH3 are already done and dusted. Till date no Mumbai meet has happened on the NH8 route i.e towards Surat, Ahmedabad. It might definitely sound boring due to straight roads but then....

I would second what Raj aka Desmosedici said anything within 200 kms range is worth giving a thought.

But this is being planned as a MH Mega Meet and not just Mumbai Meet. So will have to look at something that's feasible for people coming from Pune and Nasik.

That's why the place is yet to be finalised. Will decide upon confirmation of the head count.
As of now don't think anyone from Pune has confirmed.

And hopefully we should finalise on a new place. Coz traditionally all the Mega Meets have ended up happening in Lonavala. And that's what most people asked for last time.

Let's see what we come up with this time around.
