Before I go on about the meet report, I'd like to give a special mention to the fact that it is very bad habit to commit and then not turn up. If anything, it only discourages the one who is taking initiative to hold the meet.
Done with the complaining.
REPORT
The time had been set to 4:15 but still reached by 3:50. Abhi was already there. a little while later came sumit, then rohit, then manik and finally ankit.
Surprisingly we did basically lenghty audiotions of abhi's, sumit's and then rohit's car in this sequence.
1. Abhi's car
This little 10 year old light blue colored alto has what most of yours or mine newer or better looking, highly priced or faster cars won't. It doesn't have alloys. It runs on 50% bald ceat tyres. It isn't too clean either but what this car is(courtesy the owner), is a league in itself. It's got an absolute stonker of an ICE system. Started with 'taal se taal mila'. I actually heard a couple of beats that I hadn't heard in this song ever! Yes! Those rainbows are so detailed. Even though the sub was absent, still, the mid bass is tight and precise. I am no ICE guy but boy does abhi have a very similar taste as mine about music liking. Stunning equipment you got man! I'm keeping it if and when you plan to get rid of it. But still, I'd say that the green
CRV was better.
2. Sumit's car
This one I was waiting for since it's been recently done. Mate those compos are SWEET! Though a tiny bit brighter from my taste but that's a personnel preference.
'Another brick in the wall'. This isn't just another one of it! your system is actually a full RCC slab! Pretty sweet. And for everyone who think that the sub's the weak link, keep them to yourself. It's brilliant. Gels perfectly with the front sound stage. I like it. And yeah, the wiring's genuine alright
.
3. Rohit's car
This one comes closest to the sod for a system in my car when you compare with the above 2. Same HU. Same rear speakers. Nothing common beyond that. Coming to the audition part. Yes, this setup was a little more brighter but harsh, not at all! Sweet, crisp and melodious and loud. Loved it. Actually, I just got some ideas myself when auditioning this setup. The DIY spirit goes on.
I've already made the mistake of auditioning manik's system and bringing the only pair of ears god's given to me at a proposed risk of being damaged so, didn't do that again.
(All this has somewhat brought a craving in me also to go ahead and do some changes to my setup. Read, upgrade it. But that's for another time)
Ankit came after we had auditioned all the cars. Thereafter we discussed the forum. How all safari's are at a proposed risk by me. How green CRV's are awsome. How one can be cheated while buying alloys and end up buying fake ones which are basically repaired old ones. Same for tires. How manik's booked and I ain;t.
.
First up to leave was ankit as he had MBA classes, then sumit.
After which we had a good discussion on the capabilities of my ACTIBUSA, on how an R6 can beat a 911 and how to make a Zen wide bodied, read Manik's zen.
It was getting dark, so Manik left and me, rohit and abhi made a move towards Pizza hut. Whilst the food came, we gorged on some nice garlic bread, and sipped a soft drink or 2. No barley juice this time. Discussions ranged from delhi traffic, why the design of a bridge is as it, how HRTC volvo buses have alienated technology in them that help them run at 70-80 kmph in DENSE fog, how SONY is good in everything except car audio(IMO) to how life changes after one gets married(scaring me further away from anything even remotely related to the word 'RELATIONSHIP'). After we finished with the eating, I made a move and last, left rohit auditioning Abhi's ride.
P.S. No pictures this time around as I didn't take a camera and there's wasn't actually anything new.
Signing off now and hope to meet the people who couldn't come today the next time.
cheers
