The roads to Sinhagad (i.e., to the top of the fort) are terrible - more so after the rains. Another option is Mulshi ('bout 30 kms from Chandni chowk). Sunday is also terribly crowded on Sinhahad.

I have voted for 17th Panshet, but 24th Panshet is also fine with me.

my 0.02Rs

I am most probably in for 24th July though would prefer 31st July

for locations
Sinhagad

being sunday & rainy season you can expect a lot of people there, specially the collage "DUDES" trying to impress their girlfriends & risking any & everyones life also i had gon to Khadakwasla three weeks ago (when rain just started) & the roads weren't that good.

Panshet
not been there recently so have no idea, but i wouldn't expect those roads to be in good condition
also it will be crowded too

[b]Mulshi -30km from Chandani Chowk/B]

out of those 30KM of roads 25KM of roads are in very bad condition (this was when i had gon there about a month back - this was condition when it hadn't started raining)

I would suggest going to Saswad from Kondhva bypass which goes from NIBM road, you can also go from Katraj. Last went there in May the roads are very good & there traffic isn't much either. Though no idea about sunday

Saswad normally takes about an hour if cruising.
Just my 2 cents

@Techno : i wouldn't recomend you taking a two wheeler as the places suggested will be having heavy rains, even if pune city it self might be dry. you can hitch a ride with me

hi guys sorry to post so late -- i think adya's idea is pretty good -. i had been to sinhgad last wednesday and the roads are all @#$ked up - humVees welcome
same should be the case with panshet roads - only difference is that some patches are pretty good but some are really really bad.
i am in for 24th.

Guys, Ambi valley gets jammed after about 8.30/9am. No fun driving in a single lane traffic jam at 2 kmph.

What coincidence. Hey, I have an apartment in Panchvati too.
BTW, carry on with your plans. I'm going to Shan2nu's city.
