Hi Styler,
I complement your choice of the Grand Vitara. I can appreciate the issue of the gearing! - the Scorpio low end grunt is one of its huge plus-es.
But that is an issue with most petrol engines and I'm sure you'll come to terms with it soon. But the poor ASS/maintenance services & chaotic spares situation with M&M is something we are all familiar with. And I'm sure this aspect must be huge relief with the Grand Vitara.

I'm wishing you many years of happy sailing & look forward to your feedback with the new drive!

Posting this on behalf of my friend. His TPMS is showing a 'SCH' error while blinking three lights which are of 'Rear left, rear right and the spare tyre'. Tried searching about this on net but couldn't find any info.

Any pointers ?

Can he switch the sensors and put these ones on the front tires and see if it shows the same error? Just to see if the fault lies with the sensors or the receiving unit.

It might be easier to swap the rims/tires and check.

Did your friend try resetting the whole thing and letting the system "learn" the sensors?

Hi Folks,

Off late i am experiencing hardness in my Scorpio steering wheel. It's LX 4WD done 1.10 lakh. I have had 8J alloys with Michellin LTX AT2 tyres from the last 50K KMs.
I drive my Esteem and Scorpio alternative weeks. Esteem steering is super smooth, but i feel hardness in the Scorpio.
Power Steering fluid seems ok and i don't remember changing the steering belt, could this be the issue?
Wanted to know if any basic checks can be done by myself before taking the truck to FNG/ASS.

My Scorpio LX roof antenna has come off (8 year old) courtsey, my parking lot maintenance guys decided to pull some wire and didn't mind about the antenna being there. While taking the car today, it fell down when I started to drive.

I see a replacement available online for approx INR 500, but am thinking to address the height issue, can we move to a sharkfin antenna. I have typically seen them mounted at the back of the car, would it have any issues if we mount it to the front?

My Scorpio is 2017 S4+ 4WD and has done ~8500 KMs. I first noticed the noise during my Spiti trip in June 18 and it had ~ 6000 KMs on the OdO.

What I have observed so far is that the clutch pedal starts making noise after the car has been driven for around 30-40 KMs. Else the clutch pedal is very smooth.

The noise is very obvious and even my wife, in the passenger seat, noticed it :Shockked:.

The nature of the noise is like when you try to open/move a rusted and stuck metallic object. Since the clutch pedal starts making noise after few KMs of running, I think it might be because of something heating up, expanding and getting stuck.

I haven't yet taken it to the ASS since a) my next service is almost due, b) it is difficult (if not next to impossible) to reproduce this issue, or I might have to take ASS guys for a long drive.

Any suggestion on how should approach about troubleshooting this problem more.

Hello mate!
You better get it checked at the service center.
Our issue was never solved and slight noise still remains.
But we didn't have any breakdowns after the first one when our clutch pedal bolt broke.

As far as I can make out it's an inherent sound of the Scorpio.

If the noise comes after 30 to 40km, I suggest that you make an appointment with ASS, explaining the problem, Ask him to attend to you when you come. Drive some 50km on the way to ASS. That way you can get his attention to your problem.

Since last 2-3 months my Scorpio (Sle-2010) has developed clutch vibrations and noise while pressed down. This noise and vibrations are incremental with engine RPM. Every time clutch pushed down while changing the gear same experience.

I have given it to my local ASS at Hadapsar and local co-tech mentioned that this noise and vibration is there in all scorpios so no need to check. On my insistence ASS team worked on the vehicle and changed couple of clutch assembly parts costing about 12K but problem was not solved though clutch is smoother now.

I had given this feedback as I received followup call from the customer care upon which they assigned my case to the area office. As I did not receive any call further for about a week, I followed up with them after which I received call from Mahindra CC Manager. He assured me to get senior technical team involved and to look into the issue.

After taking two days for issue troubleshooting, today I received call from him mentioning that this problem is "normal" and it increases with vehicle age! I spent next half an hour talking with him to understand their analysis in technical terms but he could not tell me anything which can pinpoint the issue to some specific vehicle part.

Another repeating issue I am facing is on long drives after running vehicle for 3-4 hours, slowly AC becomes lesser and lesser effective resulting in only noise no wind at some point. After switching it off for about half an hour, it starts working again. But overall I don't think my AC is working in full capacity for long time now compared to my experience few years back.

Request everyone to share their experience or if encountered this issue before, suggest solution to these issues.

For a 2010 vehicle, dump the Authorised Service Centre.
U need to check engine and gearbox mountings.
Also drain the old clutch fluid and fill a fresh.
Your AC is also old, just check and get some gas filled
These are no issues with Ur Scorpio, it's just age related issues.

Regarding your AC, the symptoms point to moisture in the gas. Once the gas has cooled down sufficiently, the moisture will freeze and will reduce the capillary opening (cold end) slowly decreasing the cooling, till it is totally blocked, and that is when the only warm air will come out.

I suggest that you take the car to an AC specialist and get the gas as well as the moisture trap (I do not know the technical term) replaced - it is a biggish tube in the AC circuit.

Safest way to climb to the roof of the Scorpio without ladder or furniture?

The Scorpio is a tall car. For someone who is about 160 plus centimeters, a little overweight and somewhat fit, what might be the best way to safely get to the roof and back without the aid of a ladder or furniture?

I have seen cleaners get there, by leveraging themselves on to the bonnet, and then hoisting themselves to the roof by stepping lightly on the windshield.

I have a tour coming up, when my S10 will have 7 passengers. I have to have a way to get to the roof to secure luggage.

I have done some aerobics to get to the roof, but only for the purpose of cleaning. Something like this
Left leg on the foot board, left hand on the roof rail --> right leg on the rear tyre, right hand on the roof rail --> left leg on the passenger window sill --> right leg on the passenger window sill.

For luggage though, you would need to be balanced well and would need your hands free to handle the luggage. Will be tough with the above circus. Maybe get a portable aluminium ladder and store it under the seat while on the move?

I will be doing a dry run with your technique. I too was not too comfortable getting up from the front - because of chances of denting the bonnet, or worse - cracking the windshield.
I will have my son pass me the luggage - so once the handirack is secured, and I'm on the roof, I think the rest of it is a doddle. Hoping for the best!:thumbs up
