Thanks a lot, let me try this out. But it is not only the corners, the issue is the entire top portion of the windshield, in the last nights heavy rain there were 5 streams running from the top on the inside.

It seems that
1. The windshield was not installed properly. They have to scrape off all the old material before putting in the adhesive and sticking the windshield
2. OR - the top edge may have got damaged when your windshield broke, hence the leakage along uneven edges.

In either case you have to take the windshield out, scrape the older adhesive away, check the alignment of the metal (and get it repaired if it is defective) and stick the windshield back.

Till you get it repaired, buy the sealant; it comes in a tube with a nozzle and a pusher rod; and apply the adhesive all around (after cleaning the existing edges with water and drying it). In Delhi the tube of adhesive is available in most of the spare part shops for less than Rs.400/.

Yes, M&M has silently modified the suspension of the Scorpio to control the bounce and rolling motion. This has been told to me by someone working in M&M.

Can this be done for the older versions? Mine is 2009 October model and would like to know if the modifications are possible on my car.

Hi, The windshield was hit on the lower part with some small object it started as a very small pit on the glass and over the next few days the cobweb formed so I doubt that the metal would be damaged.

Since the installation was done during the monsoons and I got the vehicle back within a span of 7-8 hours i feel that either the adhesive was not put properly or it did not dry completely.

I have spoken to the A.S.S., they have agreed to do the reinstallation free of cost but i have to leave the car overnight to ensure that the adhesive dries properly, so I plan to leave the car tomorrow morning and collect it back on Saturday.

As of now my DIY with multiple layers of tape is holding and despite some real heavy rains yesterday whole day and night not a single drop has percolated in :)

Sorry, I am not sure about that. And I dont think M&M A.S.S. would actually take the effort of doing such an offbeat job for you.

I had similar issues, the light would come on / off at all times. I had to leave it at the A.S.S. for a day for some detailed testing and fix.

Suggest that you do the same, since there might be a chance you face a sudden breakdown.

kaushik strange that they said that the error code got cleared. Unlikely that it would happen at-least from my experience after connecting the OBD scanner to the Serial port.
Usual suspects are the Fuel injectors and the EGR valve is dirty/clogged when the engine check light comes on. Since your Scorp is under warranty get these two checked.

I have read somewhere on the forum a post by spikey that the Scorpio has a history with the EGR valve.

Thanks guys for replying. Gave the car for servicing yesterday and got it back today. The engine check problem turned out to be some clutch switch (Ok, I don't know what it is) and it got replaced under warranty. Service was done a SKS and I'm pretty happy with the service work. Being a 20k service many things got replaced, e.g. Fuel Filter, Engine Oil, Oil Filter and Brake Pads. They did some AC service which I was not sure what it was but was charged almost 1000 Rs for that. Any idea what that might be? Total service cost came out to be 12.5k and major chunk of that being the brake pads. BTW, normally how long do the front brake pads last in a Scorpio? They surely are costly (pads 4233 + service 900 + tax_)
Regards,

Regards,

Kaushik, were your brake pads really in need of replacement? I had the 20k service done on my Scorp recently, and it didnt require them to be changed.

This is the link : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ml#post2788395

Also, looks like you got ripped off for the A/C treatment as well. Sad to see this happened at SKS.

Very odd. I didnt have to change my brake pads till the 30 or 40k service! I think it was the 40k. At SKS only.
Unless you've been standing on your brakes constantly on highways and otherwise, I cant see the brake pads having to be changed in 20k! But one never knows wear and tear of parts from part to part, from vehicle to vehicle and from driving style to driving style. If you have the old replaced pads still you could take a second opinion if you like.
They appeared to have charged you for AC refresh treatment. While it is expensive ish, I always found it worth while to have a fresh and clean smelling AC after the service.

Regards,

A first one ,someone gets ripped off(pun intended) and is happy with the service :D ? What happened to your reasoning dude ?
My scorp' is at 35k+ and still running on the original brake pads.

Unlikely that the clutch switch error gets detected in the OBD. Actually when I had the issue with the clutch the engine light never came on.So I wonder how did they arrive at this ?Has the engine check light gone , if YES hang in there and check this for a few more days to see if it comes up again.

My 2005 Non CRDe Scopio (Done 1.35L Kms). has recently developed a new issue. After driving some kms, a noise is started coming from the engine bay. It is like a rock or some hard substance got stuck inside a motor. I have identified that it is coming from the Vacuum distributor. This noise lasts till 1 min even after switching off the engine. What should I do for get rid of this. Will this lead to any other problem, Gurus please help.

It has been identified that the sound is coming from the vacuum modulator valve. Upon checking with MASS, it is costing around 4k. I am facing a momentarily power loss while downshifting and accelerating. Now i have unscrewed it from the body and tied to one of the electrical pipe running in that area. So the sound is not audible. Is it okay if am running with this setup or should I go ahead and change the vacuum modulator. Please help me

About the brake-pads, they did needed replacement. I saw them almost to be at their end of life during 15k service itself. Infact that they run 6k more was surprise to me. Mostly this premature death is due to the initial issue of my car's braking (I've posted about it sometime back, gotta find the post. Infact I only told them to check and replace the pads.

This I thought so :( And it was something like last minute thing which they've told me. They didn't even asked me about it before they went on to fix whatever it was. I was bit more relaxed this time it seems.

Light is gone now and today also it's not on. But yeah, you are right, I need to wait and check few more days if it's really been the issue.

Another problem that I've asked them to fix was the front RHS window sometimes getting jammed. Shireesh has informed me that it's the motor that needs replacement and they didn't have part at that time and waiting. SKS yesterday told me that they've replaced some connector under warranty and it should be working fine but dang. Yesterday evening the same problem happened. Anyway, I knew that their remedy won't work as the motor surely need to be replaced.
Guess I was too soon to say I was happy although I meant was about the normal stuff, such as oil replacements and gearing which was bit hard and now it is better. Infact now I think that I'm not that happy with washing as they left the glasses dirty (body wash was ok). I normally never give the car for wash at the service centers but this time the car was too dirty and I was not at all getting time to wash the car (working till late nights for few weeks).

Now may be after this experiment (SKS is very close to my house and so I wanted to try) I would be again be back to Shireesh for my next servicing.

Let me also put up the exact expenses as per the bill,
Fuel Filter Catridge - 1647.37 Rs.
Kit Pads BIL - 4232.46 Rs.
15W40 Engine Oil - Valvoline - 6ltr - 249.70x6 = 1498.20 Rs.
15w40 Valvoline 1ltr - 253.51 Rs <--- why is it different?
Oil Filter SC BOL-EK-6203MX - 132.46 Rs.

Labours :
OCA Brakes - 900 Rs
Cosumables -service - 350 Rs.
AC Neutralizer - Treatment - 950Rs. <- Probably this is what Sankar mentioned..
Paid Service - 1000Rs.

And Vat 1086.94 + service tax 384Rs and ed. cess. So the total was around 12,446Rs.

Regards,

Brake pads 20K :Shockked: unless you have been driving with your foot on the brakes the brakes should last you up to 40-45 K Kms.

I gave my Scorpio for the fixing of the leaking windscreen issue.

After looking at the history of replacement, the advisor decided to charge me 4500 Rs. :Shockked: for the removal & refitting, for once I did not lose my cool (as I always have to do at this particular A.S.S) I politely asked if the GM Customer Service was in, after that the Advisor spoke to his manager and noted the refitting as a Repeat job without any cost.

I also have some small issues with the Nippon Security System where auto lock is not happening after removal of key and alighting from the vehicle & the siren is also not working. The Nippon technician is visiting the A.S.S. to have these resolved.

Faced the first real issue in my 3 years /43000 km ownership of scorpio SLE yesterday. While going uphill, there was a loss of power from engine as i was accelerating and shifting gears from 2nd to 3rd. Then the engine stalled and check light came on. Restarted and things were normal. However, the same issue cropped up quite a few times today, with engine check light coming On on a number of occasions. Planning to visit thr dealershhip tommorow.

Has any one else faced the same issue? Suggestions from gurus please.

I got the windscreen refitted complimentary, however, the refitting seems to be a less than perfect job:

1. The sealent can be seen protruding in the cabin.
2. Sealent has smudged the windscreen in more than 1 place
3. The seats were filthy (were cleaned with wet cloth on my insistance)
4. The rain / light sensors cover came loose, I had to refit it with double tape

Good things:

1. Absolutely no leakage from the glass.
2. Complimentary external wash and polish including the tyres and the engine bay, the car looks brand new from outside and in the engine bay clap:.

Security System Issues:

1. The siren was replaced on charge (Rs. 800.00) by Nippon, the warrenty is applicable for 2 years and not a part of the extended warrenty.
2. The auto lock not happening has been taken care of

The security system is working perfectly now and good thing is that the Nippon technician turned out to be a neighbour and has offered immediate help whenever needed.

Apart from this another issue cropped up where the driver side door refused to open from the outside manually / with key, the same was rectified immediately by the A.S.S.

I has a similar issue but I did not face power loss the engine check light came in and when I stopped to check the issue the car refused to start for some time but after some tries it started and lighr went off, it happened another time and light stayed on but there were no issues with the drivability of the vehicle, I took to vehicle to the A.S.S. and the issue was found out to be with some vaccum hose which was punctured, the same was replaced under warrenty.

Has this happened to anyone?

I spend more time these days at Bangalore due to my new job, traveling back to Chennai only over the weekends. So 2 weeks ago, I brought my White stallion to Bangy. On my way back to Chennai with just a couple of kms to home, the clutch pedal went dead - it just remained floored. Since it was past midnight, my initial thought was to continue since I was still engaged on 4th gear. But lady luck had other plans and I had to slow down and to avoid stalling I tried slotting into neutral which promptly happened.
When I tried to change from Neutral to continue my drive the gears would not engage and so I had to pull over. When I tried pulling the clutch pedal by hand, it sprang back and the clutch was operational again. Fearing some problem, I did not use the vehicle for the next 2-3 days and had the ASC take it for a thorough check. After a day at the ASC the vehicle was returned with a simple note that the issue has been "fixed". The invoice does not show any details - just "warranty repairs".

What could have been the problem? has anyone out there had similar problems. I am worried all the more because when I don't bring it to Bangy, it is driven around by my driver :Frustrati
