Everything is understandable, but not sure what the Exterior Clean is where they charged 1123 INR. When checked with the advisor, he mentioned, that is where all the filters will be cleaned. I explicitly checked if they charge for washing, he said NO and is included. Attaching the bill here. Can anyone throw some light?

I own a Vento TDI. I have done my 4th Service in Apple Auto. I have not seen any labor item for "Exterior Clean". I have not seen this in any of the service inovice. They do not clean any filters and as you can see from your invoice all filters are replaced and the labor for the same will be part of the 3 rd service.

Did you ask for 3M exterior cleaning? If not, this looks suspicious.

I was not happy with Apple Auto service anyway. VW Palace Cross service is better than Apple Auto

No I haven't asked for any 3M Exterior Cleaning. I sensed something wrong and hence asked here. Let me send an Email to the service center. I don't really understand why they just change and charge for Windshield Cleaner- 334 bucks is like looting for that.

Looks like they are trying to pass on a bill to an unsuspecting customer. Good that you looked in detail. The windshield cleaner is VW make and it costs so much for the quality. But normally they do not use the full bottle and give you the 3/4 th of the bottle remaining which is good enough until the next service if used liberally.

Has anyone got an EGR cleaning done for the Polo diesel? What is the interval for EGR cleaning for the Polo?

It's always unlocked and I don't know when this started happening. Do you think I should check some fuses?

I had this problem and it was a failure of the central locking actuator that locks and unlocks the lid. This was replayed FOC as my car was still under warranty.

Drive on,
Shibu.

I have a 2014 Polo 1.2 diesel and is about 23000 KM old now. Since June this year, I've had been repeatedly facing the "check-engine" light. Every time, the car's been taken to the service station and fixed. Today morning, it turned ON again for the 4th time.
I don't know whether this is a recurring issue faced in Polo(s). Has anyone faced this repeatedly and what could be the possible reasons? The Service Manager has one standard reply "It can only be confirmed after diagnosis". I am giving the car on Friday for a check, but its become very irritating.

Didn't you ask for any specifics?
I am guessing the SA just clear the codes and just give it back as it is every time you give him the car. Wow what a plonker!! The sheer nerve of him to do that.:deadhorse You should definitely give him some bashing if this time around its not looked into properly.

Check engine light can come on for something basic like an open fuel filler cap, faulty o2 sensor..etc. But it can also mean something way more serious. Best to try and reslove it as quickly as possible. Good luck.

The VW service guys came over to have a look. After some investigation, they found rat marks over and around the engine. Wire damaged? They've based their cause on this factor, however, am not all that sure, just because this is a repeated issue.
The car has been taken again, with a promise of return today evening.
Hoping for the best.

These 1.5 lakh kilometres have largely been trouble free except for one repair carried out at 25,000 km - the shifter would get stuck in reverse and it turned out that one of the two shifter cables were broken. The entire shifter assembly was replaced under warranty. Apart from that there were no other repairs, just routine maintenance which I have been carrying out at home since the car was new. Right from the first service at 15,000 kms to the one at 1,50,000 km were all DIY.

I always purchase the parts and do it at home. Initially I would do it at 15,000 km interval and then shifted to 10,000 kms. To be precise, 3 oil changes were stretched to 15,000 km and then the remaining oil changes were at 10,000 km. The car was filled with castrol magnatec from the factory. I used it till the first oil change and then switched to Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 for the next 80,000 km. Recently I have been experimenting with different brands as well as different grades of oil.

Started off with Mobil 10w40, then Xado 5w40 and also Xado 10w60. Out of these, I found mobil1 to be quite prone to shearing after few thousands of km of use. Xad0 5w40 was better than shell helix when it came to engine smoothness and also noise. Engine sounded very metallic with mobil10w40. 10w60 was really good when it came to long highway runs. Engine ran like a dream. But on the flipside, I did not get much life out of it. It was quite thick to begin with and it got very thick at around 8,000 km. Switched to xado 0w40 as of now. Will update the feedback after a couple of thousand km with it.

Also this September, I got a racechip pro2 for my car! By far the best investment I have made on my car !The racechip has really transformed my car. It feels like I am driving a bigger engine car right now. The gains on a common rail turbo diesel are really encouraging. Also I retrofitted Bi-xenon projectors on my car purchased from theretrofitsource.com. Went with the fx-r projectors and Osram cbi bulbs. Initially they were powered by the 35w 3five ballasts. Now I have upgraded to XB55 50w ballasts. Night time visibility has improved tremendously. In all a very very memorable, happy and trouble-free 1.5 lakh km with my Polo 1.2 TDI. Fuel efficiency has always been between 20 to 25 on the highways (depending on the driving style ) and around 11 to 14 inside the city. Looking forward to reaching the 2,00,000 km marks soon. Thank for reading . :)

:Shockked:

And I used to think you have been driving the wheels of your GT Gannu.

Now I know where you most likely get inspired from :D

I have been using my bro's I-gen I20 (1.2) from almost a week now and just unable to get myself sorted. The German engineering has really spoilt me silly. I get some sort of stiffness in my back with a mere 100kms in I20, while I would be totally stress free even after 500kms in my GT.

Folks like your friend and you yourself are a testament to the sheer joy of experiencing the German engineering.

Got my car today evening. It was a wire cut caused by rats. Have to take some preventive measures for this now. Going through the rat prevention thread.

I have a issue to report.

Since last 10-12 days ABS light on panel is coming up intermittently. VW service people checked and software told them that right rear wheel sensor is malfunctioning. They tried with replacement sensor but it did not worked. Now they have ordered a fresh sensor from VW and want to try that.

Last friday, while driving on a rough road the brake symbol also lit up. But when stoped and started again, it was gone. Although VW service guys and scanned and told me that everything is alright, still it is bit scary.

Anyone faced similar issues?

Guys,

Need help with details on Polo 1.5 TDI maintenance. With 1st service looming in middle of November, wanted to check on the following:

1. Best service center in/near Delhi? Got a list from VW customer care on two available near my house: Volkswagen Delhi Metropolitan & Volkswagen Capital [both near Mohun Cooperative Industrial Area] and a total of 5 in Delhi. Can anyone suggest which one is the best from issue resolution and overall service standpoint.
2. Car feels loose and sounds the same. Was being driven over horrible Kolkata roads. In Delhi, with road noise going down, all "joint pains and aches" are audible. Will the service center be able to remedy it?
3. Overall suspension goes 'thud" over every pothole, even at very low speeds. While this is a problem across, any ideas on tyre pressure etc. to reduce the impact?
4. Rear suspension goes "kit-kit" at every turn. Possible issue(s) and remedy?
5. Minimal "kit-kit" on steering turn. Happens once in a while. Solutions?
6. Noise from instrument cluster plastic cover. Again a known problem but any answers on solving this? Very irritating it is.

Also, at times, in 1st gear while car starts moving and AC is switched on, there is a sudden loss in power which gets corrected immediately. Very minute but identifiable. Has anyone noticed this phenomenon?

Just In

Finally, the EGR for my 1.6 GT has arrived and got a confirmation call from the Service guy that it will be at the service station by 3pm today.

But guess what, I will not have my hands on GT till Wednesday (4th November). The reason:

Saar, 2 ramps at the service station have shattered and we are actually sending back some of the vehicles that have come in today for service. Please drop your car on Monday and I will promise you will drive your car on Tuesday evening :Frustrati

So guys, I am happy to report that my German thorough bred had the issue on 18th October '15 and it has been projected a fix date of 4th November '15 :Shockked:

I will update my ownership report with all the details once I get my GT sorted.

P.S - With parts of their own models not readily accessible/available, would I splurge my fortune on another German Engineering? Hmm now the Mind is laughing away to glory !!

Has any one retrofitted the Double barrel headlamp on their older Polo's. One of the major problem I face every day is the pathetic illumination from the stock headlamps.

Faced the exact same issue with my Skoda superb. ABS Sensor goes bad, they replace find new sensor not working have to wait for new sensor to be ordered. The brake light could be a function of ABS sensor not working at least thats what the workshop guys told me.

But ask the workshop for the exact error code they are seeing, i am assuming the error code is stored somewhere in the system. Also insist that they scan and test the ABS module for any errors (if possible stay there and see the testing of the ABS module (Not scanning but actual diagnostic testing). As ABS light and brake light coming on could indicate trouble in the ABS module and that is something you definitely don't want.
