Woah H_Dogg72, that "Smoking Brakes POLO GT TSI" video you have posted literally calls for the phrase Holy Smoke !! :Shockked:

I have got the Disks & Brake Pads replaced on the GT at ~22k kms but never once have I actually seen that kind of radiation dude.

Considering it is your 3rd Set of pads & 2nd set of discs, do you use your GT as a Safety Car in the BIC race track ?? lol:

The car is currently in Bangalore, so not hitting the track. Whereas one of my friend who hits the track everymonth has burnt thru 4-5 discs and well. More than 10 sets of pads in 35k kms in 12 months. He's also looking into getting the EBC kit.
All depends on the way you drive. And how you take care of the machine after that.

I have a Polo 1.2P CL, she is 6 months and 1500kms old and her check up is due on 22nd december, will be driving down to b.u.bhandari,wakad from wanowarie, Pune. any heads up about the guys there?

Things I plan on getting done:
- I feel like I should get the engine oil replaced, any suggestions against or for it as the manual recommends it at 10k/1 yr. I have run in the engine, and as i am gonna be home for the next six months I plan on driving around alot and reaching the 10k mark pretty soon

-will check if needle sweep can be activated.

-want the lane change blinker to be changed from 3 blinks to 5 or more.

-the warning beep volume is very low, will check on that too.

any other suggestions you guys might want to give?

I am in a dilemma whether to give my Polo 1.5 TDI for first servicing or not!!:Frustrati

Delivery date is 28 December 2015 and odo shows 5600 km. no issues with the car!!

When checked with workshop, they said I should go by 15000km or 1 year whichever is earlier logic and get the car for servicing!!

Either ways you have to give it for service irrespective of the kilometers you have driven. It is clear that either you follow the distance measurement for service interval of the time duration for servicing.

In your case it is time that is meeting the requirements hence you'll have to send the car for service even though it has done only 5600 kms.

My experience with the folks at B U Bhandari, Pune has always been good. It's a big facility however please ensure that you reach the service centre on time as it is always flooded with cars.

The six months free inspection is a very basic service wherein they would check the oil and fluid levels and would do top-up as required. I also asked for an oil change during my car's six month inspection but they said not required.

Regarding the needle swap & lane change blinks, I don't think they would do any of that. The last time I had asked, they refused it. However no harm in asking again. Do update us about your experience when you get the the inspection done.

Is there any inspection b/w the first and the second service intervals? I have so far gotten the inspection done at 7500 KMs, and the first service done at around 10,000 KMs.

There's two aspects to this: one, engine oil is so much more than just lubrication. It takes care of emissions requirements, helps 'clean' certain engine parts and it gets consumed as well, in the case of diesel engines. To help it do all of these jobs there are a number of 'active' ingredients in the oil that break down over time. It will still lubricate your engine, yes, but it won't do the other jobs effectively. Long-term, this might end up being an engine issue. Whether or not you'll have the car then, it would be nice to have the car running smoothly even then.
The second aspect is the checkup - the service rep is ideally supposed to give your car a once-over and either rectify or at least bring to your notice anything that is a problem or that might lead to one. As a regular Joe you might not notice the small things.

Whether or not you go to the official service centre is up to you; but do get the oil changed and have the car inspected carefully. Think of it as the annual medical checkup you undertake to make sure everything is fine with your body.

No, there isn't. After the first service, you follow the interval of 15,000 km/1 year for services. Even the first inspection is an optional one and nothing concrete is done (unless your car shows signs of problems) - your warranty will not be affected if you skip it.

Yesterday, I went and got my polo 1.2P its six month check up. It was largely uneventful and the service was good, they did catch some problem with the wiper motor-wiring, the SA said that it's under a small recall, and after long uses the wiring actually gets cut so they worked on it. The "check-up" took 8 hours, I was there from 10am till 5pm, had I known about this earlier i would have gone back home. :Frustrati I was billed for .5 ltr of oil which amounted to ₹470.
I wonder if taking 8 hours indicates that the "check-up" was top-notch or are they just dead slow!!



In other news I also spotted something cool while i was there, this seems to be a VW amarok, possibly a V-max competitor?:)

Could you post the bill which will have details on this wiring recall? Did the SA tell you anything about which batch of cars are affected?

Ya, I saw the Amarok there too. It wasn't covered though. It is silver/grey.

Here's the bill. The major change here is the cable holder, it'll be good if you ask your dealer about it, my SA did say this is a known issue.

Next time you go for a service, excuse the plush customer lounges and go straight to the floor. They object at first but you have to be adamant. This way your work will be more faster and you know what you get. I always do this way and end of the day I'm satisfied to get it done my way.

Quick question regarding the warning lamps - the manual says that they should all come on at the first turn of the key and then go off after a short while. This is with the key in the intermediate stage. However, I see the following lamps (ignore the parking brake lamp) and they do not go off no matter how long I wait.



The warnings go off as soon as I start the engine. VW SA says this is normal, nothing to worry about. Is this the same for you guys? Mine is a Polo petrol 1.2 MPi.
