My Left fender was repainted after an accident.
Now there are tiny paint dots Windscreen, and Bumper.
The bumper is uncoloured plastic, with tiny grains on it.
I tries diesel with with a Scubbing Brush, but it didnt helped.
With Thinner I am a bit apprehensive as it may lead to fading of the plastic, and may leave white, weared off marks on those areas.
Kindly suggest me some solution.
You can use thinner on windscreen. Take cotton wool and soak it with thinner. Squeeze out thinner to make the cotton wool just damp. Rub that on bumper but don't put too much of pressure. Keep a dry soft cloth handy to wipe off thinner after every time you rub, Basically you should not allow thinner to settle down.

Congrats buddy,
I think water wasn't a good choice, as it would have made cement more toughened.
Just thought that, Its better to put some paint freindly oil, as firstly it wont toughen the Cement, and secondly oil stays for more time then water. Mayve Diesel is good option. |
Thanks Man, i also was thinking in the same way that water will not be a good option, but couldnt think of any other alternative other than that and went ahead with it.
It served the purpose, but yes you are right in the humid conditions of Mumbai it can cause rusting if the paint is chipped off during the process of removing the cement, but luckily in my case it didnt chip off and neither any scratches.
regards,
Sanjeev

Owwk boss, I suppose for Windscreen it won't be any issue to use Thinner.
For Bumper, what if I use thinner using a Soft Toth brush, and just after the paint sopts are gone, I can rub it with soft dry cloth and then, put some oil on that area using another Brush.
Like the Idea is to Dilute the Thinner on that area.
What Oil can be used which can mix with Thinner.
Also On my Roof Rails there is a very tiny Line of scratch of 5 mm. On that area the Aluminium of roof rail is visible.
The roof rails are Powder coated with Black colour. So the finish is not shiny but sort of charcoal black.
I tried to put paint but it doesn't fits with the powder coating and looks different. Is there any Primer (Like Redoxide) availlable in Black colour. I think as Primer are not shiny, and also they are very dense so will look similar to powder coating.
Kindly give your views.

NO. Don't allow thinner to soak in. Follow the process I mentioned.
Regarding powder coated area, try matt paint. Any paint workshop can do that for you.

Any pointers on distinguishing a fake tin from an original? |
There is a US (?) flag on bottom of Formula 1 carnauba wax tin. In one of them its flying and in another it is not.
Now, I forgot in which one the flag flies. Its mentioned somewhere on this thread itself. I think by Rudra.

I thing you should try 'windshield experts'. Never used their services but have heard good things about them.

Does look original from the pics, but that may not be he product they deliver to you. Better buy it across the counter. I paid Rs 250 for a tin of fake Formula1 wax.
Rs. 350 sounds steep. That stuff is available for around Rs. 160 - 170 in Poona. Even if it includes courier charges, it sounds expensive.
The seller has a 96% +ve feedback... so its a good chance its genuine.
Hey, I paid Rs. 224 at Big Bazaar for the same. Definitely not a fake and works very well!

Don't use buffing machines unless you are a professional. They can do more harm than good. |

It needs a serious practise. There are chances of surface getting damaged due to wrong pressure. |
Thanks people for the 'Red Light' I was going to get one tomorrow. A friend was getting one and I thought I better have one too... now I'll stick to the Old School of 'Rub to shine'! :-)

Find enclosed the pic which i had taken today morning, this taken after i removed the Cement Clot from the roof day before yesterday.
