I have a 2003 Lancer GLI . The car color is Magic Black . It looks black normally. but in sunlight it shows up a dark shade of green .
The car has been battered over the years (6 to be precise) and has infinite swirl marks and scratches. and the color has lost it sheen . If i Do polish the car the car gleam again but the polish doesn't last more than a few days. Considering the dust and plain daily/alternate water washing

Last sunday on a local automotive TSD rally i won a prize, one of which is a free teflon coat on my car.
Now i have the below questions.
1) Considering its going to be free prize thingy, what exactly should I expect as "teflon" coat. Is it the 3M one or has "teflon" ended up being a generic brand name . ( like every chocolate is a cadbury.. get the drift?? ) I do not expect a decent / detailed answer from the local accesories shop who has sponsered the prize. He might just say " sir Free prize hain teflon coating karke milega ) I cant ask for more.
2) Considering that my car has a lot of scratches and swirl marks and might need a few paint touch-ups, is it recommended to go for a teflon coating on my car now. Will It help me restore a shine to the paint similar to something like a clear lacquer coat. Future protection on scatches/swirls.

I need advice on how do i go on reclaiming this FREE TEFLON coating.

I do plan to go for a touchup/repaint sometime later this year or early next year. Should i do TEFLON coating now.

Even if I get a decent shine (wet look) for my car and last for a few motnhs , I will go ahead ,inspite of the cons if any.

Simplest answer : AVOID teflon at all costs. Even if you are giving up a freebie.

Why ? If its free, whats the harm ? I mean, what can be the disadvantage, even if there is no significant gain ?

If I recall correctly, GTO had his Esteem top teflon coating cracked after parking under sun - correct GTO?

You can also search the forums for Teflon coating and land up with all types of + - which have been discussed at length. I didnt take "free" teflon coating with my car after reading the debate.

I opted for the 3M new paint protection thingy when I bought my Civic. They wrote it down as teflon coating in my bill. I think a wax/polish and proper teflon coating are used interchangeably as far as wording goes. In my case, it was a short lived wax job.

Does anyone know if those 'pearl', 'matt' and 'candy' paints - as in NFS, are available in India?

Yes, they are all available.

Pearl, Pearl Metallic, Metallic, Matte, all are available. First time I'm hearing about candy though. You can go to a reputed bodyshop and choose pretty much any colour of your liking to be painted onto your car.

Hi, we were driving on a highway and some one spat out a chewing gum from a bus which fell on the door of my car, we removed most of it with by pulling it out using tissue paper, but there still are some gum marks on the car, can anyone please tell me this can be removed from the body of the car without damaging the paint? Thanks

Try rubbing it with a cloth soaked in diesel. Should do the trick :)
