I had some door protectors, one of them came off in these perennial rains, but, the sticky rubber below the sticker is stuck to the paint and not coming off. Any idea how to clean it? + I now have to remove the remaining three as well. It was anyway a bad idea to get these door protectors in the first place. Thanks.

Iso propyl alcohol, Kerosene, Diesel, WD40 all works well. You may apply heat from a hair dryer to soften the glue and remove as much as possible before using the solvents.

If there is one 'detailing product' you would recommend for between 2 waxing events (say 6, 8 weeks apart) what would that be? I have some one travelling to US and I can ask that person to get it if the same is not available in India/Bangalore. Thanks.

I'd say get yourself UWW (Ultima Waterless Wash plus). You dont even need to wax anymore! I got it here in Bangalore from Mohsin (Ultimate Detailerz)

Well, what you are asking is a topper and it depends on the wax or sealant your car is wearing. For example:

• If you have a sealant like Blackfire Wet Diamond on the car, you could try a wax on top of it
• If you don't want to wax on top of the sealant, get a quick Detailer that is borderline sealant. Chemical Guys V7 is a good one, Prime Hydro Max is another.
• If the car has wax on it, you can buy quick detailers with carnuba. Prima has a good one.

There is no ONE product, it all depends on what you want from this product and how much time & money are you willing to invest. You will of course need to wash the car with a good shampoo or a rinse less wash like ONR or a waterless wash like UWW. UWW makes a good QD as well and helps the water to sheet/bead better for a day after application but don't expect any protection from it.

A half bucket of water and an old t-shirt.
Wash the car by soaking the t-shirt in water and also throwing a couple of mugs of water on the car.

Then wipe it dry with another old t-shirt.

Finally wipe it well with an old Scotch-Brite Flat Mop Refil

Of course the car also gets its fortnightly dose of Formula 1 Car Carnauba Wax Polish.
A waxed car is a LOT easier to keep clean.

Total time spent is usually about an hour.

I find it easier to park behind my daughters play area so she can be busy and I can both keep an eye on her and clean the car at the same time.

If the car is not sprayed with muck etc, may I suggest a waterless wash? Like ONR or UWW? that would be faster IMO. Wipe off the loose dust using a jopasu / california duster, and use UWW/ONR in correct dilution in a spray bottle.

If you intend to wash it - please use a 2 bucket method. Would do a world of good.

and maybe swap your t shirts for a couple of microfiber towels?

How do you get rid of the swirls? My Pulsar has swirls and some light scratches. Earlier when I had tried using 3M's perfect it one step compound, I noticed that the cloth I used was picking up paint so I don't want to use it again. And I have been informed that probably my bike doesn't have a clear coat as the paint.

So how do I proceed now?

In your case one way is to use a product which has fillers. means this will just fill up the swirls and not remove them. I believe Megs UP has fillers. The issue with fillers is that they only hide the swirls. So you may have to redo the process again and again after few months.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does megs UP has the effect of thinning the paint being a compound? Because what i used earlier was also in the nature of compound and it was probably cutting through the paint which was apparent from the cloth I was using.
So if UP is mild in nature and is not much abrasive then I can give it a try.

Another thing is, how is 3M's finesse-it? I guess it comes in different grades defining the abrasiveness. I have been told that this doesn't cut through the paint and only removes the impurities which have bonded with the paint. Any suggestions on this?

Meg's UP is one of the most aggressive compounds from Meg's.

You can try Meg's swirlx or sonus swirlbuster fro swirl removal.
If you want a paint cleaner you may use Sonus paintwork cleanser.
