Thanks for starting this thread , GTO.. and dang...this should have struck me..I just LOVE rev counters. Especially the Dodge Viper is just awesome. The Italian-finished white ones (FIAT, et al) also look classic and timeless.

Looking for more beautiful rev counters!

You know, you took the word out of my mouth. When I saw the title of the thread, all I wanted to do was to post the tacho of the RTZ. Really it was the KB RTZ, from where the obsession started. Thanks for posting the photo.

Fiat Linea

Fiat Linea: The tacho on this baby is a plane-jane meter. I love the way it glows to life in orange though.

The Koenigsegg tacho and complete instrument panel is a good reflection of how the car is. Mad!!!

But I love the Zonda R's steering mounted tacho. It even compresses the zone upto 4000rpm, shows you where you're supposed to drive in it.

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

I find the classic approach towards the design of the tachometer in the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 very pleasing. It goes very well with the classic image of the car.

Also worth a look are the Ford GT's. I like simple design and extended layout, and all those pop-out dials look just so convincing, as if asking to be exploited in the most humble way.

Ferrari seems to have an aesthetics department only for rev counters. Each one from the prancing horse looks fab.

GTO, does RX8's tacho have a speedo (digital) too?
Yup, I think it's very classy.

Not if you are particular about shifting at just the right point. The revv counter is indeed a vital driving tool, especially when you are in a high-revving car.

Trust the Americans to come up with something as wacky. An rpm gauge on the hood?

Sure are. But it can be a humbling experience (The peugeot diesels barely revv to 3,000 rpm, and strain thereafter).

A low redline for a sports car. But then, the Viper is all about the torque it makes.

Sure is. It has 275/35 R18 at the front & an unheard of 345/30 R19 at the rear to put down all that torque. This is in stock form & it still cannot put down the power well enough

@Fash - Thats another one for minimalism lovers (read function keeping in mind form). But yes, the way Porsche has designed all those dials, together they look perfect. Almost clinical id say, but in a good way. Ze germans are masters of that.
Funny that it is indicating some sort of failure warning
Also, GTO, wonder why the Turbo above has almost the same low redline as the Viper?
Seems to me that a trend is emerging here - all minimalistic, clean tachos have low redlines. hehe.

And heres one for the Honda fanboys:

Later The SX4 Speedo with its sheer simpicity looked nice.

Re: PICS : Celebrating the Rev Counter!

RPM meter of my Figo.

This is the first time i am able to "use" the tacho.

The Tiida, Civic & CRV had them, but being automatics it was more or less a showpiece.
