One more case of tyre squeal under very low braking.

Well I went to have this looked into! There was another guy too with similar problem.
They take off the rear tyres (after over an hour of being just parked -I might add) air blow the brake pads! polish the rusted parts of the drum (not the braking area-as it is still very smooth) box back- take the vehicle- without me- for a "Test drive" -speak to the RM. RM comes over tells me you can take the vehicle - it is done!
So force him to accompany me for a test! - No difference- Standard response - all vehicles have this!
Best part in the work done report- They enter Brake pad opened and replaced!!!!! I had to make a counter remark!
Damn - Just when I thought G3 Motors were upping their game!!
I checked with the works manager and RM regarding map upgrade- both initially said we were entitled to one upgrade in the first year! But when pushed to get it done to Ver7.0 -they then retracted and said Nippon needs to get it done /sorted out with MapMyIndia.

That's an eye-wash and a fraud :Frustrati
Can you please report this matter (with the service-center name) to Mahindras?
Its time these frauds are taken to task.

My XUV is a FWD and has been giving wildly fluctuating mileages.

1. When I took delivery and drove 200+ kilometers to my hometown I got a tankful to tankful average of 15.6 kmph (No AC).
2. Later it started giving me a highway average of about 12 kmph (With AC).
3. Once in a mixed city-highway situation it gave me an average of 10kmph (With AC).
4. The other day after getting my first service done, it turned in a highway average of 18 kmph (With AC).
5. Now I am again getting about 12 kmpl!

I have been driving carefully on the Highway at about 90 kmph, mostly on cruise and my gear changing is done at about 2000 rpm.

The Service guys say that they have no way of doing anything to increase or decrease the mileage, as everything is computer controlled.

The First Service at 5000 km only entailed was only a tightening of all loose nuts & bolts, Oil change, oil filter change and cleaning. Thats it!

Any ideas, about whats on with the Car?

I test drove the Ertiga the other day, even that car has awesome brakes. When I stepped back into XUV i felt as if XUV doesnt even have brakes installed. Reminded me of my school time days which I used to ride the bicyle and the rubber pads used to be worn out. Made me so nostalgic! M&M u better do something about the brakes, your 4 disk brakes are worst than drum breaks!

May be you are correct if you compare with Ertiga or any other car for that matter. However, XUV brakes (though feel improper) serves the purpose really well. They just give the feel that they are not precise, spot ON, or kind of lacking something. But, can say that they only give this impression> In practical, they won't make you pay for it.

Have been driving it for 5000 kms now & been to hills twice. Am ok with brakes in XUV.

An info from an insider (please do not ask to validate this source) -

The consistent niggles reported in the XUV has not gone well with the top management in Mahindra. Action is being taken from the highest level.

They have formed a panel to find a solution to this and called in experts from Spain (which includes specialist test drivers) to iron out all the glitches.

Hi,
Has anyone fitted additional horn(s) on their vehicle? -Not just replaced the original.
If so did it require cutting too many wires.
I know with all the niggles being faced it would not be prudent to do so. But If you dont have to cut any wire- why should it cause any problems?

If the original have been replaced - which one is best suited?

I'm sure the top management has taken note. Just wondering whether they should postpone the export a little. Iron out glaring flaws and proceed.

Why specialist test drivers from Spain? I'd have volunteered if someone had asked, seeing as how I do almost 90 kms a day 6 days a week in my W8.

The specialist team is to go to the root of the issue and eradicate it.

ha ha ha. This from the same top management which blocked me on twitter for pointing out flaws with their ad campaign. I'm sure the reason the niggles are being looked into is because of impending Italy, Australia, Chile launch(M&M gears up for XUV500 launch in Italy, Aus, Chile | Firstpost). Having said that the customer service department has been most responsive and have worked really hard to sort out all issues.

An update from my side(even though I was advised not to share publicly by M&M dealer). A new brake disc design is out with improved metallurgical qualities. It has groves in it(6 IIRC) instead of the 1/2 groves in the 1st/2nd gen brake pads. I'm happy to report that the noise from the brakes is gone and the braking efficiency is normal(had been always for me). This is only for the front discs. Rear discs continue to be the same and I have not faced any issues with the rear brakes so far.

Since everyone is facing this headlights going dim, did anyoen try replacing the bulbs to a highpower ones with the required cutouts installed?

This is good, at lease we can hope to have better vehicles coming out by the year end. But any ideas why Spain ?

Seeing the number of issues and variance in the issues, certainly took right decision not to go ahead with booking of XUV, rather wait for 2 years.

Certainly, looks to be much more issues than Tata Indica faced when it was launched. But never expected from M & M, that to for 10+L price range vehicle.
