If it's the weight distribution, shouldn't it be on all XUV's? When does this left veering onset, is it after certain km's on the ODO assuming the wheel allignment might have gone awry.
This is one concern holding me back, I am hoping the problem is taken care in the facelift. With your advice I will check the tire psi 32? on all 4 wheels before taking a long test drive. |
I used to have a same issue initially. The issue is sorted out when i got the Wheel balancing done along with Road force test from MADHUS Enterprise, bangalore. Not sure about other locations where this Road force test is available.
The Problem identified is with one of the Tire which is defective at one point.
where the force is spread unevenly. After replacing the defective tire with spare one it good now, from almost 10K Kms i feel there is no PULL.
I was suggested to use this tire as back wheel if required.

Yes the quality of the Keys are very poor.
I have been having the battery fitment issue from the beginning.
One on my EcoSport works far better when it comes to Range of the remote and its quality.
I have been going through the thread.
Can some list down top 5-7 issues that continues to plagues the car and is expected to cleaned up in the upcoming update? XUV W8 AT is one of the contenders for my upgrade hopefully by Dec 2015.
Issues in my car at present - non-generic issues.
1. Interior Cabin noise - mainly from seat belts banging on the plastic trims.
2. Interior Cabin noise - Instrument cluster plastic cover this on mine seems to make noise n clicks even when i touch the thing.
3. Interior Cabin noise - Middle row seats vibrate a lot making noise, i can see them moving in the rear view mirrors when there are no passengers there. if its occupied then there is no noise
4. Interior cabin noise - rear numberplate , this is manly due to the plastic trim & the back of the tailgate vibrating making rattling noises - fixed it by sticking 3m tape between them.
5. Brake noise - I was told by the A.S.S that i will need to change the brake rotors n pads 13k (i don't remember if it was just for fronts or all of them), i instead opted to go for cutting / trimming them and changing the brake pads, i think it was a bad quality of work more than anything else its only after the cutting that my brakes started to make noise, like something is stuck between the pads & the discs. Although the braking has not been affected.
6. SRS Airbag recall - I gave my XUV500 for service recently (4th May) and one of the parts they changed was the passenger side airbags. the RM said it was a recall as new updated parts had arrived.
7.Transmission issue - When i gave it for 70k service i told them that the gear was hard (especially 1st 2nd & reverse) they tested it adjusted somethings but they couldn't get it to work so they will be replacing something in the transmission ( i forgot what the RM said) its backordered so will be replaced as soon as they get it.
8. EGR Module (or something related that creates the vaccum in engine) - This issue was not there when i gave the car for service, it only had a check light for powertrain issue (i'll try to post what my torque app logged) the RM said that after trying to fix the gear issue they went for trial & the check light came on again this time for EGR module or something ( i don't remember stupid: ) they don't have this in stock so will be replaced when the part arrives.
9. Infotainment issue - Restarts, hangs, unresponsive, they updated the software, as far as i can tell the bootup logo is different & the bootup time is quicker too, but it still froze on me & even rebooted when my phone was connected via bluetooth & i got a call. This was the 3rd time i complained about this issue & RM assured me they will replace it next time if i still faced the issue after the update.
10. Folding Mirrors - The passenger side mirror gets stuck halfway then makes a big noise when i close it then opening it works fine until it gets stuck again. this is again my 3rd consecutive complaint and i was told the motor / unit will be replaced next time.
11. Gear always shows N in the instrument Cluster - Related to transmission issue i guess
12. Cruse Control doesn't work - Related to transmission or the Gear detection issue i guess.
Other stuff: Driving this car around is a Joy - too bad i don't get to go on trips that often now. I just purchased Extended Warranty uptil 120000 Kms, Mine is has currently covered 72500Kms

To sum up, this is not a deal breaker, only thing is that if you have some patience, you can get it fixed and should not hold you back from buying this awesome vehicle. |
Thank you everyone. Definitely a confidence booster to hear from all of you. Waiting eagerly for the facelift
Any difference found using Nitrogen vs regular compressed air?

What TVS service in Kochi suggested is an upgrade to more powerful bulbs which can be bought from outside and they said they can help me with fixing it. Which bulbs, what exact specs of these bulbs should i go for. ?? |
I am sorry for repeating my almost an year old post here, again on my Low Beam. When I came up with this concern I have been receiving various suggestions on upgrading them to HIDs , Osrams Nightbreaker +90% etc.
But sorry to say, I am still confused and not sure on what to do next. Probably because I am anyway not gonna invest on expensive HID's I am looking at solutions with an upgrade.
What I understand from across various threads on Bulb upgrade on XUV5OO is that the current one is the H7 80W 12V ones running after the headlamp upgrade we had. (Correct me if I am wrong). With these bulbs inside the projector, the lights are not helping me as I am forced to use high beams for better visibility. Can anyone suggest the best ones to upgrade for looking at this scenario.

Are you sure stock ones are 80W currently? My understanding is that they are 55W.
Was there a headlamp upgrade from specific batch onwards.. when M&M started providing 80W as stock?
PS: Projector housings are meant for Xenon bulbs. Many manufacturers take a shortcut and provide halogens inside the projector, but that does not make it right.

SDP : Back in 2013, one of my bulbs inside the projector fused, and they replaced both under warranty saying that this is an upgrade by Mahindra. From my understanding these should be the 80W bulbs provided which came in for 55W.
This is what I assume, based on the scenario. I have not checked them personally.

So are you saying that upgrading them may not work unless they are Xenon ? Please suggest

Not an expert in this area, but I believe so.
Not saying it won't work. Just saying its not the most efficient combination.

Even mine fused in 2013/14 and every time they said its an "upgraded" ones but they were only osarm plus or something and they were 55w only and not 80w. But yes, from last year they are working great (touchwood) and havent gone kaput on me. Though the spread is still the same (not adequate).
Why dont you ask your garage guy to show you how Xenon bulbs would work and then buy if it makes a difference.
You are fortunate that TVS service is saying they'll help / install it (I assume TVS service is a MASS)

Even the updated bulbs are H7 55W 12V. They just have blue lines/ markings on the metal housing. No change in light throw or illumination.
You have 3 alternatives:
- Fix Osram Nightbreaker or Philips Crystalvision type bulbs. Same rating. Plug & Play. No requirements of Relay / Harness etc. Not sure how much effect on illumination / light throw. Few people in the Auto Lighting thread mentioned there is improvement in light throw.
- Upgrade to 100W / 110W bulbs with a Relay. I believe it'll give you substantial improvement in illumination / light throw. The only thing you should check is that the heat generated should not be excess which adversely affects Headlight housing/ assembly.
- Install HID conversion kit. The beauty is that the projectors are already given. Expect expense in the range of 7-10K

Halogens very well works in Projectors. No issues.
In fact, HID's don't work well without Projectors as the throw gets spreaded and oncoming cars would find it difficult.

Will they do that ? In this case I might have to go to some accessory shop which sells these bulbs and will have to check. Will keep this in mind to. Let me find out the best place for this in Kochi.

Yes so did the KTC guys. Both of them were very helpful and they both have a good chunk of customers coming with the complain saying inadequate lighting from the low beams.

May be, it was just an assumption. I was not yet on TeamBHP when this happened :).
Thanks

- Here lies the problem, I did the same with my Ecosport. Went for +100% Philips XtremeVision and I still do not help on the road, especially when it is raining or with oncoming traffic. Though we can feel the difference when parked in the Garage or on roads without traffic.

Noted, I will seriously look into this alternative.

If this is where I land at after checking both the earlier options, then. I might have to wait till my dad gets the car for warranty extension :D
But this one looks more like the best alternative. SDP has also suggested the same.

Sure Noted this too. Thanks so much for your detailed tips.
Hi Everyone
I find that my car/engine behaves in two distinct ways:
The engine feels very smooth, quiet, free revving, the pickup is great and the car feels fast. It will reach 120 in 4th gear and I will barely hear the engine inside. The car feels much more easier to drive, doesn't stutter/stall so easily when driving in slow traffic and low gear/low rpm.
Other times the engine feels noticeably more noisy/growly, there is also noticeable decline in pickup. The car will still get to high speeds, but the engine seems to make a big fuss of it. It doesn't feel as smooth to drive, stutters a lot more if rpm becomes low in crawling traffic, so I have to use the clutch a lot more and frequently change gears in stop-start traffic. there is a general heaviness about the whole vehicle.
The difference can be heard by the way of engine noise, and felt by way of smoothness and pickup.
It happens very randomly too, some days its smooth and light, other days its growly and heavy.
I recently had the clutch replaced under warranty (35000 kms) after complaining about grinding vibrations being felt on the clutch pedal. They discovered that the clutch was more or less completely burnt out. But this too did not solve my issue.
What could be it ?

It may be nothing but I have felt this too once on my 1.5 month old car. I felt the engine sounded coarse and pick up was off. NOrmally i dont hear the engine at all.
I have felt this once during a test drive of a used XUV that I had checked out. It was a 6 month old car with 9K km but sounded very coarse and struggled during pick. However it did 120kmph but felt labored.

If you're getting the headlights upgrade (whichever alternative) thro' MASS, what's the issue in Warranty?:)
I suggest, if MASS is agreeing to do it, don't even think of doing it outside eventhough if you've to compromise on HID / Bulbs brand etc etc. Safe to do it at MASS.
Be careful on 2nd alternative of 100W / 110W bulbs with relay. Check with knowledgeable mechanic that it should not generate excess heat. XUV headlight assembly is quite costly at about 15-16K per piece (not per pair)

My understanding of these Xtremevision or NightBreaker etc bulbs is also similar. I refrained to mention it as I don't have a first hand experience

When the engine feels coarse/ slow/ sluggish, have you guys tried to turn off the engine and restart it to see if it makes any difference?
