And so it happens...First electronic glitch in the C220

The inevitable happened this morning when I started the car. Display reads "SRS system faulty. Please visit workshop immediately".

I remember Adya33 telling me "Wait till you cross the 10,000 km mark. Then you will know what Mercedes electronics are all about"

I do hope that this is a one-off since the car has been trouble free in its 12,000 kms so far. Buttttttttttttttttt so was my C180 until 10,000 kms. The Mercedes will be back from Auto Hangar in the evening. Will update.

Man, do keep us posted whatever happens. Like others i too hope its a one-off thing. Otherwise will autohangar be back on its knees? Or will it be MB itself this time?

I wonder why European car makers have not been able to solve the electronic and electrical issues for so many years. They know the problem so whats stopping them from solving it? Maybe the amount of electronics going into cars is too much for them to handle!

But GTO, many times these lights give false alarms. They light up for no reason and all the service guys do is reset the system or something. Hopefully your car has a false alarm too.

SRS means airbags.

Airbag sensors are sensitive. Sometimes when I go thro a puddle it comes on for me.

You should get your sensors checked ASAP.
I have driven my accord through all sorts of puddle & pot hole filled roads (thank you PMC) but not once a false alarm.

Thanked: Once
things do seem to be getting better. for everyone else atleast

well idd consider myself lucky , in the last 4 years ive had a whole plethora of things go wrong with my 200cdi..
it started off with a dead battery , i didnt use her for 4 days and wham , battery died on me . which has happened about 4 times since then and ive had my battery replaced twice already at a cost of about 16k from autohangar. not fun.
ive also had my esp malfunction and my audio system dosent seem to like the oe 6 cd changer ... keeps turning it off and insists there no cd in the changer.
then i had my air con sensors fail so basically my climatronic refused to work even clicked past the 18deg mark i was sweating my ass off in the bombay heat.
I was then told later that my compressor was busted and needed to be replaced.
oh and ive also had my engine bushings replaced cause they were worn and ive had my clutch replaced too.
Now fortunately some of the most expensive stuff thats happened to the car was when it was still under warranty. it isnt now and guess what , it isnt a nice feeling waiting for something to go wrong and running up an 80k bill when it does .
Looks like mercedes reliability on the tracks showin up on the street too.
now maybee its just a one off with my car , maybee it isnt but shes just done about 26K km and ive heard a lot of horror stories. lets pray things improve

It definitely could be faulty but imagine driving on the Expressway at 150+ and suddenly you start gettin these displays on ur screens. Can cause heart failures

Add to that...if the sensor indeed is faulty then what if it triggers the airbags going at 150kmph??? Scary indeed!
