thanks mukund, there are some spares which are readily available like the door locks, winders, glasses, etc. suspension items are the one i have not yet got in specific the ball joints, managed to get the bush kits. i will be more than happy in getting spares for BHPians.

Just can't wait to see your fully restored Contessa, me been hunting for one but can't seem to find one in a reasonable price, saw a Contessa for sale nearby in TBHP classifieds but right now can't put together the finance to buy it.
More interior pics are welcome and would you mind telling the price you paid for it?
there are couple of contessa's available for sale in chennai but the prices are going high day by day. PM i can see if i can help you. wiser option is to pay extra and get a very good running condition car rather getting it cheap and stuck doing restoration.

Earlier when Contessas could be had for under 50k i mentally made a note that for exceptionally maintained ones could shell out 70k.
But now even below average maintained ones are asking 1 lac+. Something to do with curren trend a la JEEP prices. Waiting for the prices to fall once the novelty wears off.
BTW, how's the price in there, and how much did your girl(Conti) cost you.
Cheers.

Re: Project Starts : Contessa Classic Restoration

I sold my perfectly running Contessa Classic in 2003 for 20,000.
Now I am looking to sell my perfectly running Cielo for 40,000 and there are no buyers.
If I had a good big place to store them I would keep them for 20 yrs instead.

actually scenario is people look in for a vehicle only when the availability is less, there are very people who is searches vehicle for the love of it, there are many who searches it for the sake of just owning it as some kind of a prestige. classic vehicles are RD, Yesdi, conti's, Cj3b etc etc. i got her little over the price u quoted for a well maintained conti a year and half before

thanks RJ,
every-time i think i completed 100% something else comes up in mind as part of improvement but i think i finally come to the final stage.
over the weekend did some fixes of silencer & bonnet rubbers and stuck the black strip on the sides.
i must say stripes have added more looks to the car. audio installation is pending, planning to complete everything by or before 31st December

when you say audio installation i remember- way back when a installer in Chennai showcased a contessa / SPL setup with 3 subs fitted neatly with other goodies and produced thundering bass.

Car looks great.

Are the interiors done? Would love to see the cluster kit on the dash.
And do you have a Contessa manual. By manual I mean a detailed manual with complete engine data, body part installation and replacement information etc.

Have plans of restoring one but for sure a long term plan.

do not have a completed interior photo, will take one this weekend. I do not have any manual, but thanks for reminding me, my friend has one but petrol contessa manual which i need to collect from him soon

i understand restoration cannot happen within definite period of time frame, so start collecting spares, as they becoming rare everyday.
