what are those base terminal ones talked about in forum, are they not panasonic in some way?
Cars
Model No:MF 38B19L
M.R.P:Rs. 4945
Panasonic website shows some car batteries but is there any dealer that has these?
Also, about Base Terminal, I heard that there is a court case going on and that Panasonic has nothing whatsoever to do with these batteries! :Shockked:
^^^ Hmm... interesting news, if true. I wonder how they can use the name Panasonic if they have no agreement/collaboration with them. The battery on the Panasonic website looks exactly like the one on the BT site.

Please check your car's electrics to see if a mild short or current leakage exists. Switch off all equipment using power, including the central locking system. Remove the (+) terminal, connect a sensitive ammeter (capable of reading from 100 mA) across the terminal and battery lead, and check if there is current drainage. If there is, something is wrong somewhere. Even a 500 mA drainage will make the battery flat in a few days if the car is not started. Zens, esp. pre-2002 ones, are notorious for such current leakage which is very difficult to detect and stop. |
I just personally checked the parasitic leakage since I got a new battery couple days ago. Whats the acceptable range in our cars... esp. Esteem? The only electrical accessories it has is the stock Kenwood music system and the security system (brand: Silicone Systems).
I connected a multimeter in series to the -ve terminal. It shows an almost constant 0.04 mA reading. I tried this with the security system armed and once with it off (apparently). I assume this is what turns it off - I opened the doors using the remote, opened the driver's door and closed it, and then locked the car using the key. Does this turn off the system or is there some other way?
In both cases the current reading was the same as mentioned above.
Amaron !
Had one installed in our Maruti 800 5speed in the year 2003 and was problem free till we sold it in 2009 April.
The charge was fully drained off twice, as some of my folks left the cabin light a whole day. Had to push-start the vehicle and the battery got fully charged on the run. Still it stayed fully problem free and I am sure it had a lot more fuel in it before end. Never had the pain to take my little beauty (5 speed 800) to the workshop on account of a battery problem.

So, I finally got BOSCH Silver today with 2 yr warranty for Rs.2600.

I guess yours is a petrol lancer!
Today called up one of the BOSCH dealer to know the price of the Bosch Silver battery for our Accent CRDi. To my surprise got the quote as Rs. 6267/- !!!
Will there be so much of a difference between batteries for petrol cars and diesel cars???
When I said, the price is around 3000/-. I was told that it is the price for the Indica diesel while the Accent CRDi engine is more advanced and hence a different battery and higher price!!! Somehow I am not convinced by the answer!!
Will there be such a huge difference between two diesel cars as well??
I Need the battery for my Accent CRDI. It has basic ICE set-up: Sony HU, 2 6x9's in the rear and two 5" or 6" drivers in the front. Autocop remote locking and I may go for reverse parking sensors. All the lights are stock including the fog lamps.
I prefer to have the sealed battery. Any suggestions??

Diesel will need a more powerful battery than petrol, guess thats why the price difference. If its of a particular design like palios then you might have to pay more . you will have to see which model went into the lancer and what warranty period it has. that wil help compare the price better.
I bought a bosch silver with 18 months warranty for 2800 today for baleno. prices have increased i suppose.
As said in my earlier post, Indica's battery is for around3000/- while the battery for accent is around 6000/-. But both the batteries are rated at 60AH. Can I put in the indica battery in the accent???

Hi Gigy,
Where did you buy the Bosch Silver here in Bombay. I am looking for a battery for my baleno too and the prices that you have mentioned are pretty attractive. Kindly provide me with the contact details of the shop from where I can get the bosch silver battery.

Difference between standard casing and DIN casing!
If you can physically fit it, go right ahead; no issues!

I bought it from Maharastra battery shop, opp swastic chamber, chembur. 25233781. If you are going to him callup before hand to check stock.
Actual mrp is little more than 3k. came for 2.8k total (2.6 + cost of a lug for amp wire and copper insert for negative terminal)
I had to put in a copper insert to enlarge the battery terminal to fit the existing battery connectors. the previous amaron i had was a larger capacity one with bigger terminals.
You should be getting this price everywhere. I think this guy is a bit costly or i didn't bargain enough.

You will not be able to swap . There are diff sizes and specifications for each battery . Most of the DiN type batteries are costly compared to the conventional batteries .
The terminal orientation is also diff .. in the sense the positive and negative terminals will be different swapped and your terminal wires will be too short for swapping different batteries .
Diesel batteires are costly as most of the diesel engines need to be heated before they are started and this requires a lot of current and another thing is diesel engines opeate at higher combustion pressures . so they need bigger self motors to get them cranking .
Base Terminal was the distributor of panasonic batteries in India . But , this was some time back . Now they are just importers only and not distributors . The products are definitely panasonic though

Can't the terminal orientation remedied by placing the battery the other way around?
Of course diesel engines will require more cranking power and hence more AH rating. So, wont a battery with the AH specified in the user manual be sufficient?
And regarding the DIN part with respect to automobile battery, I am ignorant and even google didn't help. Please clarify.
guys - need to buy a battery ASAP.
I am getting exide 2+3 years warranty for same price as amaron 2+2. Both are maruti OE batteries and I don't have another option.
Which BRAND should I trust? HELP - need to reply by 6pm
