I connected a multimeter in series to the -ve terminal. It shows an almost constant 0.04 mA reading. I tried this with the security system armed and once with it off (apparently). I assume this is what turns it off - I opened the doors using the remote, opened the driver's door and closed it, and then locked the car using the key. Does this turn off the system or is there some other way?

In both cases the current reading was the same as mentioned above.

Had one installed in our Maruti 800 5speed in the year 2003 and was problem free till we sold it in 2009 April.

The charge was fully drained off twice, as some of my folks left the cabin light a whole day. Had to push-start the vehicle and the battery got fully charged on the run. Still it stayed fully problem free and I am sure it had a lot more fuel in it before end. Never had the pain to take my little beauty (5 speed 800) to the workshop on account of a battery problem.

Today called up one of the BOSCH dealer to know the price of the Bosch Silver battery for our Accent CRDi. To my surprise got the quote as Rs. 6267/- !!!

Will there be so much of a difference between batteries for petrol cars and diesel cars???

When I said, the price is around 3000/-. I was told that it is the price for the Indica diesel while the Accent CRDi engine is more advanced and hence a different battery and higher price!!! Somehow I am not convinced by the answer!!

Will there be such a huge difference between two diesel cars as well??

I Need the battery for my Accent CRDI. It has basic ICE set-up: Sony HU, 2 6x9's in the rear and two 5" or 6" drivers in the front. Autocop remote locking and I may go for reverse parking sensors. All the lights are stock including the fog lamps.

I prefer to have the sealed battery. Any suggestions??

Actual mrp is little more than 3k. came for 2.8k total (2.6 + cost of a lug for amp wire and copper insert for negative terminal)

I had to put in a copper insert to enlarge the battery terminal to fit the existing battery connectors. the previous amaron i had was a larger capacity one with bigger terminals.

You should be getting this price everywhere. I think this guy is a bit costly or i didn't bargain enough.

Base Terminal was the distributor of panasonic batteries in India . But , this was some time back . Now they are just importers only and not distributors . The products are definitely panasonic though

Can't the terminal orientation remedied by placing the battery the other way around?

Of course diesel engines will require more cranking power and hence more AH rating. So, wont a battery with the AH specified in the user manual be sufficient?

And regarding the DIN part with respect to automobile battery, I am ignorant and even google didn't help. Please clarify.
