Hey Ajmat,

Good to hear your Vtec is back and revving. 5900 is a pretty good deal considering that you changed the main bumper part with painting at the authorised showroom. You are lucky you have a black Vtec, Mine and Shantanus metallic colors are really difficult to match.

Yeah man, metallic colours are difficult to match but not impossible. These guys in Hubli "Auto Scan" were just awesome. they not only fixed the dented door but also painted 60% of my Vtec for just 7200 bucks!!!

If Honda was to deal with it, they would have first replaced the door which is around 15K and then they would have painted the car for a lot more.

You just can't makeout the painted part, not even from a distance of 1 feet.

Regards...

Am not kidding - Bosch ones cost around Rs 700 for a pair - need to shop around. I remarked about this - reply - these are "genuine" sir - a genuine rip off !!!

The reverse sensors help, got a four sensor system fitted for Rs 3700. I can focus on placing the car using mirrors and et the sensors alert me re: obstacles

Hey Ajmat,

3k for wipers is ridiculous as you know. I picked up 20"/22"? original bosch wipers for the W123 for Rs500/-, i dont know about bangalore, but try to find an "opera house(in bombay)" like place where there are lotsa car shops and hence lotsa competitive prices.

About the parking sensors, i hope you do not rely on them solely. Also, sometimes what happens is when people drive a car without a parking sensor (and they are used to having one)..they just back straight up into whatever is behind them! (happens in the US a lot...)
Speaking of parknig in the US..man..kissing bumpers is considered ok while parking..ive seen Z3s back up into jeeps and stuff like that which is painful to watch!!!

....now for the end of the story

Having been peeved about the way Whitefield Honda, played around with the labour charges. I opened the boot to remove the old parts a day later. Amazingly, the old bumper sprung back partially into shape - just a large dent. Am sure that if I used an old iron, I could have thermally "formed" the dent out. also wonder whether the palstic bits come prepainted ? Anyway ,have kept the old bumper in case it happens again. Looks like the doctor orderred surgery when a band aid might have helped. Was too embarassed to post this but best that other Team-bhp inas know what to do in a similar situ

a similar thing had happened with me once when the front fibre bumper of my esteem was pushed in by a careless autorickshaw at one of the signals. The impact was so great that the bumper went it at the corner breaking its side lock near the front fender.

One local garage i went to advised me to replace the whole bumper as it had broken its lock setting at the sides however one another ingenuous garage fellow came out with a simple and an easy solution by heating the deformed part of the bumper with a welding flame carefully from outside inorder to push it back into its original shape. He used a small screw for additional support in place of the broken lock where the bumper meets the fender and lo !!! it looked as good as it was originally and yeah...last but not the least , he charged me a modest Rs. 30 /- instead of more that Rs. 2000 /- which i would've spent in replacing the whole bumper assembly, nevertheless i gave a decent tip for his ingenuity .

Nope, none of the parts come prepainted. They arrive in a standard shade of grey or matt black plastic.
