Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

Even though i want to change the Oil every 10k Kms, But for me both VW and Mahindra, Did not agree to change the engine oil before the recommended mark given by the manufacturer, I had a talk regarding the same with the manager of my VW service centre during the first service, Regarding the same oil change interval and he promptly replied, It is scheduled keeping in mind the driving conditions in India as well as the weather here which can be compared to China, I don't know how much of its is true, But ill just vote, Whatever the manufacturer recommends, I still always have serviced all my car's atleast 2k to 3k kms before the service is due.

I always used to think Magnatec is either semi-synthetic or fully synthetic. Are you sure it's mineral oil that you are using?

1200-1300 bucks for a 3 liter can, I think the word synthetic is just a marketing gimmick. It says on pack 'synthetic technology' which is open for multiple interpretation in my opinion. To be on the safer side, I treat it as a mineral oil.

Same here GTO. My car doesn't see 10,000 kms in a year, but I still make it a point to change the oil yearly, regardless of how many kms it's run. That being said, if my running was more than 10,000 kms a year, I would certainly change the oil between 7,600 - 10,000 kms .

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

Voted for 5k-7.5k kilometers as we change the engine oil of our Alto as soon as it covers 6k kilometers. It has clocked approximately 115k kilometers on the odo and oil change is rarely delayed. We don't let it cross 7-7.5k kilometers in any circumstances.

On the other hand, where my Hero Honda Glamour is concerned I change the oil at the intervals of every 2k kilometers.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I change as per severe service schedule for my cars. Every 7500 kms is what I adhere to. If i feel I have idled too much or drove in really dusty environment I change sooner. Can never really have the heart to wait till 10K kms.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

Though FIAT recommends a 15000 km oil change, I religiously change at 10000 kms, as my driving is mostly in the city. The car has been on fully synthetic oil from day 1 and the engine is silky smooth after 58000 kms. It is actually getting smoother with more running

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

Earlier we used to change the oil every 1.5 years as our running was in the range of 3-4k kms per annum. Now my running has increased to +/-1000 kms per month and the conditions are a mixed bag. 20-30kms daily in dense traffic during the weekdays and 2-3 highway runs in a month. Hence, I intend to change the oil around the 7-8k km mark. I drive a '11 WagonR which has a drain interval of 10k kms or 1yr.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

When my swift was new, I changed oils every 5k kms religiously.

In the last one or two years, the interval moved to between 5-7k kms. However, I ensured that she got new engine oil at the onset of extreme Delhi weather (November & May). All of this is mineral oil.

For my new S-Cross, if MUL insists on synthetic oil then the interval will be 10k else 5k for mineral oil.

.
My line of thinking too. My running is just about 9k kms a year, within NCR, mostly(75%) good roads fortunately, on the 1.2 Punto and coincides with the 12 month service interval as well. Hence voted for 7.6-10k.

I think more than summer, it is the 4 degrees C winter cold starts which need special attention here in NCR.

Hence a brand new oil at the onset, is a big !

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I usually adhere to 10,000 kms schedule. Even the service reminder in my Fabia is set to the same. Depending on the oil type, like fully synthetic or semi-synthetic, the oil change service should be varying.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I have a Honda City which runs around 5K KM in 6 months out of which roughly 4500 KM is highway run. Honda recommends changing the oil every 5K and i diligently do so. There were a couple of occasions when the mechanics were telling me that oil change is not required for another 1000 KM or so as the oil quality was still good, but i have gone ahead and changed it anyway.
This way its good to not to have to remember when to change the oil. Whenever the ODO reaches a 5k multiple just go ahead with the oil change!

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I am sticking to the 10k interval for my Skoda Superb (which recommends 15k) as well as my Fortuner (which is the manufacturer's recommended). For my Harley, I do it at 8K which too is the manufacturer's recommended interval. All oils are fully synthetic except the Fortuner which uses a stock semi-synthetic blend afaik.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I believe that manufacturers know what they are talking about when they mention a certain number in terms of kilometers for an oil change.
For my Vista they suggest an oil change of 10k kms and that is what I follow. If they suggested 15k, then that is when I would change it.
If you want to change it before that, that's your call.....IMHO.

Re: What oil change interval do you adhere to?

I started using synthetic oil in early nineties in Gypsy and used check it at every 5000 kms, it used to last for 15 to 18k kms. I drove gypsy for 130k before I sold it, never changed clutch assembly during this period.
Now Linea has 15k kms interval and I stick to it.
