I received my car post the replacement work and I have now clocked 180 kms on the ODO.
I shall update with details of the same soonest here.

But in your case, I suspect the same. Check with your ford dealer whether your VIN number falls within the same range. Best to monitor the oil levels and check compression levels on your cylinder - at Ford ASS.

Do not panic, i think I got the whole cost of the Short Block Assembly under goodwill. I even upgraded my clutch along with.

Hope your near and dear ones are safe from the floods. Normalcy would take time.
Thanks for your update. I took my car to the service station, they weren't alarmed as the drop in oil level was not that significant. I couldn't meet the service manager to enquire about the possibly affected VINs as he was out during the time I visted.
Did not top up, in turn undertook a scheduled trip of 450kms. The car perfomed flawlessly and the check there after showed no further drop in oil levels. Shall continue to monitor the levels closely.

Re: EcoSport 1.5L TDCi: Engine seized, replaced without a fuss by Ford

Oil level going down is a sign of worn out seals and poor materials or poor tolerances in manifacturing whatever be the make or model of car from the highest to lowest. Any SH saying any engine oil consumption is *within normal range* or *expected* is a scammer or he is biding for time.

Re: EcoSport 1.5L TDCi: Engine seized, replaced without a fuss by Ford

This is quite disheartening to read about. I also own a 2013 August Ecosport Tdci that has run 27k kms. I haven't experienced a single engine issue yet (not even a check engine light). Should I be worried about this issue and sell the car or would ford continue to provide the same kind of goodwill warranty over the coming years?

Dear BHPians,

this thread made for an interesting read. I booked EcoSport TDCi in September 2019. Should I be worried about any such engine failures? I am little edgy after going through this thread. Please advise.

TIA.

It was just for that particular batch of 2013. I haven't read or know of any such cases thereafter. All brands have gone through this at some point of time. You need not worry of it taking just a handful of examples. Enjoy the TDCI, it's a brilliant car and will also keep your pocket filled.

Hi, Guess you have a pretty low running, any particular reason you opted for diesel? My running will be low too, but I don't want it to hamper my driving experience (read higher torque). TIA.

The odo currently stands at 40k kms. I asked the SA to run my VIN on the ford database, thankfully my cars engine wasn't highlighted for oil consumption issues. Apprehensive owners can check etis.ford.com for any acknowledged issues.

Diesel was chosen by my dad for the higher fuel economy, torque and resale value. ( I wasn't much into cars at the time of purchase)

Re: EcoSport 1.5L TDCi: Engine seized, replaced without a fuss by Ford

(let me please piggy back on the renewed momentum here) thanks for your prompt responses. Existing EcoSport TDCi bs4 should run fine on bs6 fuel, without the need of any additional lubricant? I am asking this because we have alternatives in the market as on date that have bs6 engines (eg. Seltos). Can anyone please clarify? TIA

Re: EcoSport 1.5L TDCi: Engine seized, replaced without a fuss by Ford

Thank you all for the detailed thread on the Engine issues.
I'm looking for used EcoSport TDCI in Chennai in the budget of 6 Lakhs..
As per this thread,
- Should i avoid cars manufactured in 2013 and look for 2014 models and above ?
- Can someone confirm if 2014 manufactured models does not have this oil consumption issue ?
- Is there a link/website where i can check with the engine number/ VIN if the particular car is affected ?
