I searched around but can't seem to find any definitive information on the Ikon.

It will definitely work on Vento but Ikon is 50% chance.

Here are pics of Latest Batch of VGate ELM327 selling. Its with screws!

Successfully bought the Mini ELM 327 Bluetooth from Aliexpress.com. Shipping time was indeed on the higher side (45 days) but was worth the price ($ 6 with shipping :Cheering:) and it is flawlessly working with my iPhone 4 (iOS 6.1 Jailbroken).

Hi Anish

Can you please post the link to the supplier's page on Aliexpress? I am interested in acquiring the ELM 327 dongle too.

Thanks
Hrishi

What is the difference between this and older ELM 327's?

Which car and what software are you using?

There you go Hrishi http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Lates...808159089.html.
Be patient with them :D, and they do provide you with some sort of tracking ID.
Note : Prices keep fluctuating.

Do check this post to see if the pin from the connector shorts the IC's leg.

i got mine from dx.com and it reached me in about 23 days (not business days). works like a charm on the new eon (obd port is near your foot, at the end of the plastic dash that goes down below the steering wheel, in front of the brake pedal)

Has any one figured to connect one with T-Fortuner

Are you sure it doesnt connect? Its new model, should comply to OBDII Protocols...

I got an OBD-II dongle from www.simplelabs.co.in - http://www.simplelabs.co.in/content/...luetooth-obd2-

Tried it first on my XUV using Torque Lite - worked perfectly.

I have yet to try it with Torque Pro.

My question is whether it is OK to leave the dongle plugged in all the while. Will this drain the battery. I have yet to see if it gets hot while in operation over extended periods.

ANy experience would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

How long do you leave the car parked? If not more than 2-3 days then its fine. There are many electronics in the modern cars which keep draining the power from the battery when car is left parked, OBD dongle don't extract that much of power. Saying from my personal experience.

Though once my car refused to take self when it was left in parking with OBD dongle attached for around one week but I attribute that incident to battery life (2.5 years old) and longer parking duration in the winter time.

BTW these days some OBD dongles are available which have on/off switch in them, you could've gone for that.

I bought the Super Mini ELM 327, linked extensively above, a couple of months back, and it remains plugged into the Jazz. I use it with the Android app Dash, to track trips etc. Several reviews on Amazon mention the power saving features of the more expensive ScanLink dongles, but I have not seen any major complaints on the Mini ELM about disproportionate battery consumption.
Again my experience is only a short couple of months, but do follow the long term experience reviews there.

My only concern is that the Bluetooth tends to remain ON & connects even when engine is off. So when I'm around the parked car, BT connects and Dash expects me to start a trip. That said there is no interference with vehicle BT, etc.

The is no problem if the dongle is kept plugged-in on the port rather than playing around and spoiling the OBD port and its pins.

You can keep it plugged in if you use the car daily and drive around sufficient to recharge the battery. If you park the car for longer duration then remove it else leave it plugged. It hardly uses any battery charge and till date haven't seen it get alarmingly hot under usage.
